    Anyone else hate it?
I do...I LOVE science, but Chem? DO NOT WANT:eek:
I really am so bad at it, im not even sure why; the stuff really is easy. Maybe I dont study enough, idk...Even the gas laws are driving me insane at this point. My chem teacher is derranged; she talks to herself & doesnt teach us anything:eek: Due to the lack of teachers in general they cant fire her and shes been there forever. So yeah Im basically just angsting about chem in general I suppose...

I'm more of a human biologist, but i still hated science in my first two years in secondary school. My teachers picked on me & would send me out of the class for no reason. Plus one of them was a prev... no joke.
But in third year it got better.

Chem is not THAT bad. Sure it hurts the brain sometimes, but it's math. O_o Ok, Gas laws were just freakin annoying though.
I hated my bio teacher. He would pick on kids and talk a lot about stupid stuff, AND he had HORRIBLE writing. (Couldn't copy notes.)

This counts as an Intello thread...?

I remember I took chem just for the fancy jazz with the liquids and apparatus, but never really payed much attention to the theory @_@; The hell if I remember jack. But I always found it better than Biology (insects are invovled here...) and physics, which is basically math on an entire new bloody high level *DAIS*

I used to like Chemistry. Then I went into University and completely changed my opinion.

Once you hit grade 11 Chemistry, you find out everything you learned is a lie. Then you hit Grade 12 and it gets worse.

I stepped into first year Chemistry at York University; PV = nRT is outdated--try the Vaan der Waals equation. *rolls eyes*

Am I ever glad I don't have to take that anymore.

    O noez:eek:
    Stupid gas laws...
My big chem problem is the teacher refuses to teach:( I dont just pick up on things, i need to hear them and its soooo infuriating to have her not even discuss chemistry :\ We have to take it in 10th. CANT WAIT for Bio...seriously I love biology ^^
AHHH I just hATE balancing chem equations...Easy yes, pain HELL yes:mad:
I suck at math but Im madly in love with science, so Im kinda screwed...
I mean im doing IB SL next year and ive heard its crazy. In HL its so advanced that the teachers dont even understand it. There were like 10 kids in it, half dropped out with Fs after 1st quarter, the others are lucky to have Ds:eek: why would you ever subject yourself to that?! *hates math*

That's one of the problems with Science it can become outta date very quickly, then you have to learn loads of completely new stuff in a short amount of time. But i suppose it's the same with another type of education, were always changing it.

I like the sciences but sadly, I can't say that I don't like Chemistry because I've never taken it... and never will. I signed up for Enviornmental Sciences on my next years course selection sheet. ;D

Yeah, just the entire 'teaching you Science in small set of lies' just gets to me.

They still tell Grade 9s and 10s that the atom has rings and electrons move along these rings in orbits.

Wrong. It's a lie. There aren't any rings, and electrons move freely around the atom. They're called Orbitals, and they're simply referred to as "regions of space" where electrons CAN be found.

And they've known this for decades. lmao.

And then you have to relearn how bonds are formed, since obviously the rings thing isn't true anymore. Enter the realm of sigma bonds and pi bonds.

Haha so true! Theyre discovering new elements practically everyday 0_0 Arent they up to 118? They havent even 'officially' named them, just given the mreally hard to pronounce latin names...ununhexium:eek:

So true. I think theyre undermining kids intelligence, figuring they wont understand so they invent ways of explaining things that end up being 100% completely false...

Lucky...Im taking IB BIO an IB ES next year [that or IBBIO II and IB ES senior year depends on which other classes I got into xD]
But yea, Ive heard its a fascinating class! The year after we graduate theyre getting rid of it:( I guess they think its too similar to BIO even though it really isnt xD

This is the type of things my dad likes to talk about, n' i always just say "really?... uh-huh... oh i never knew that...", while politely nooding.
Basically i don't have a scooby what he's talking about. But i would love to understand it, but i have no pervious knowlegde of it. And it's constantly changing, it's a pain.

    LOL!

So it's okay that I emptied my head of all the chemistry knowledge I knew since it's complete outdated bull.

    That's reasurring XD

Darn... I learned all these for no reason... PV = nRT is what i'm writing exams at, also the atoms and their movements and stuff, and basically, everything you referred here, meaning all lies...
If it was like maths, then it'd be great. There are no lies in maths, that's why I like them. Like in interelations( i think that's the word, you know, like f(x)= αx(x is in square)+ βx + γ) you start from a simple point, and then you find yourself in the "deep water". Stoichoiometry is nothing like it, from pesonal experience and your statements. Not to mention that if the teacher is not good at it, you can't learn it. We wrote 3 tests in a row, and she said we would write a 4th, but thankfully we didn't...
