Kingdom Hearts Sora's "dive to the heart" problem

If Riku was supposed to be the true keyblade master, why did sora experiance a dive to the heart?

 

Because Riku allowed darkness in his heart.

It was because Riku longed to leave the island for personal reasons, mainly because he was bored.

If he became the keyblade master, it would have been for the wrong reason.

 

I agree with that. Plus "dive into the heart" was a sort of tutorial to show you the basics.

 

Yeah... Sora was basically second string Keyblade master, when Riku allowed darkness, Sora got the starting position, and he got the Dive into the Heart scene.

I bet Riku probably went through the same thing, only before he allowed darkness into his heart.

 

Hmm. A good thought. I would say we need to wait for BBS to come, as the choosing of the blades seems to be strongly related to the knights.

 

i just think its weird that it occurred before all that stuff happened (i.e. before riku chose the darkness and the night thier world was destoyed)

But Riku probably allowed darkness into his heart prior to the night the Heartless took over thier world.

Notice how distant he is from everyone else. How he always stares out into the ocean, how he always looks so serious.

That is not normal Riku, thats more like Dark Riku's personality. Normal Riku is more like what we see in KH 2, after he purges the darkness from his heart. Hes happy, laughs a lot, still thinks Sora is an idiot, but likes him all the more because of it.

Also, there is even more evidence that Riku wasnt always so serious. Remember in Land of the Dragons in KH 2. When he talks to the Emporer, he was informal, not all serious like he was in KH1. I know you dont actually see the conversation, but it is talked about, Riku even calls Sora a "wiseguy."
