I'm new, so..uh...what are these pins and stuff like "Merlins Housekeeper"?

Pins are kinda like awards; if you do or reach a certain goal you might get awarded a pin..I think that it works anywho. As for the 'Merlins Housekeeper' It's like a post count thing, the more you post the name will change. Sorry if that don't make any sense Dx

Yeah, like Kelly said, the pins are kinds of rewards. I wouldn't know much about them seeing as I've not gotten one myself. ^^;
And then they're are the titles, which change because of your post count.

Pins, on the other hand, are handed out for certain things. You can view the full list here. Event pins are only handed out for specific events, while in theory, you can earn the other pins any time. For example, there was an event pin for participating in a Secret Santa during December. There is a normal pin for getting 2000 posts, 1000 rep and being here for a year.
