Credit goes to my Systems of the Earth teacher for informing us on Friday.

Between 5:02 PM and 7:26 PM PDT, there will be a solar eclipse.

There's also supposed to be one between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM PDT on June 5th.

I'm jealous too. The only eclipse I've ever seen was when I was in Amsterdam when I was six years old.

I've seen quite a few Solar Eclipses in my time, and one Lunar Eclipse.
Lunar Eclipses are creepy as ****.

I might catch a glimpse of it, the sun is probably setting during that time... I'll have to remember to check it out!

Just some more information here: The one on June 5th is supposedly going to be a unique and rare event, in which Venus blocks the sun or something.

I've seen one or two Lunar Eclipses, but never a Solar one.
    Sadly, East Coast here.

I saw it. It was kinda cool but nothing so great that people need to freak out over not seeing it. Solar eclipses are the dull kind of eclipses.

Ah yes, the transit of Venus. I plan on seeing that, although it's on June 6th in North America. It doesn't block the sun, just be a small black dot passing over it.

And, the next one's in ~128 years, so unless you people are planning to live to 140 years old, don't miss it. Seriously.

Same here. I ran up hill trying to escape the treeline but it was still nowhere to be seen. I was very disappointed.

How do you see a Lunar Eclipse? Isn't it basically the same as a new moon?

I suppose it' s too late to warn you guys that watching a solar eclipse without wearing special glasses burn your retinas permanently ? Retinas don' t have nerves so you don' t even feel a thing, which is why it can be very damaging (though it takes years for the toll to take). I hope the reason nobody mentioned it here is that it is common knowledge.

Its looks can vary wildly depending on whether it' s total or not.
