Yeah I liked Traverse Town in KH1. It was nice and cozy and felt like a city, unlike the f*cked up Hollow Bastion in KH2, which feels like an empty and emotionless place.

So what happened to Traverse Town? In KH1 it's the center of activities and in KH2 it's never even mentioned again. Did it just disappear?

I think it's gone now. Either that or it's pretty empty, considering how the heartless aren't quite as threatening now.

In the long run, I don't think it matters too much.

Gone because it was a world where people went to when their worlds got taken over. At the end of the first game people just moved to their home worlds. Do you want to go to an empty town with no quests or anything? Traverse Town served its purpose.

Well the same applies to Hollow Bastion doesn't it? Why didn't they go back to Traverse Town instead?

Well, considering that the only people who lived there were people who had lost their worlds to the heartless, once Sora saved the day at the end of KH1 and restored all the worlds and whatnot, everyone obviously went back to their own worlds. So most likely it's completely deserted now, and that's probably why they don't mention it anymore. Sure, I liked it as much as the next guy, but to the people who lived there it was probably a reminder of how their worlds were taken away from them, so even though it seemed cozy to us, it probably didn't feel quite as homey to anyone who lived there.

....Or you know, something like that.

Yeah but then again, why Hollow Bastion. I mean they're practically living next to the center of trouble and evil that reigned in KH1. How could Traverse Town be worse.

Oh well guess they wanted something new

Well, remember, Hollow Bastion was the home of Leon, Yuffie, Aerith, Cid, and I think Merlin before it was taken over by Maleficent. So it wasn't always evil. It's supposed to be a symbol of hope I think, because they're rebuilding it, which proves that even if darkness befalls a world, it can always be rebuilt again.

...And they probably wanted something new ^_^

As it was said before, Traverse Town wasn't needed. It acted as a safe haven for people who needed it in Kingdom Hearts, and they moved the safe haven to Hollow Bastion for the second game. It makes sense that they did, because it'd get boring to have the same world to go back to all the time. The keyhole at Traverse Town was already sealed, the threat of the Heartless probably wasn't very high, so it would have just been a pointless world to include.

Hollow Bastion could also have been used to show the passing of time between the two games. In Kingdom Hearts it was a mess, overrun by the darkness, and in Kingdom Hearts II it was being slowly fixed up, with a quite noticeable difference from when Sora and company first arrived there.

Like everyone's said, it just didn't have a place in KHII.. Even if it had returned, I doubt there would have been much to explore. We've seen the three districts and what's in them. The town might have gotten bigger, but it'd be hard for a whole adventure to be there anymore.

I miss it a lot though.. It really did have a personality, the dark but homely style was nice, and it was the first place I ever saw Final Fantasy :3
It'd be nice to see how the people who've stayed improved it...

It would have been nice to visit Traverse Town, Wonderland, Deep Jungle, Monstro, and Neverland again.

I heard that it was connected to darkness and that's what happened to Traverse Town.

I never cared much for Deep Jungle, let alone Wonderland. But I was quite disapointed when I learned Neverland wasn't a world in KHII. :(

Traverse Town wasn't needed anymore, also, Donald, Goofy and Aerith said that the town was only connected to Disney Castle, but yeah, like everyone else said, it just wasn't needed anymore. They all went back home, and Hollow Bastion was their original home, well Radiant Garden... It was also Kairi's ^^

I love Traverse Town. I was so different than the other worlds. I agree that there was not bother mentioning it in the first place cause it was there now...its gone.

I'm sure if they had put it in the second game, they would have redesigned it like Hollow Bastion (which was redesigned past the point of recognition, really). I agree with you though that even if they had done so, there wouldn't be much to do there.

Anyway -- as others have said, Traverse Town was to provide a place to stay for those who lost their home worlds, so at the end of the first game when Sora restored the worlds consumed by darkness, there was no purpose for it anymore. In Chain of Memories it was still there because it was in Sora's memories, but in KH2 they had no reason to include it. I'm thinking maybe it still exists but is abandoned, or it disappeared when the other worlds were restored (I guess I'm remembering wrong, but I thought I remembered a character mentioning that it disappeared).

That is the Same thing i said when i nearly got to hollow bastion. Merlin, Yuffie, Arieth & Leon,Cid were from traverse town in kh1 but in kh2 they magically moved to Hollow Bastion where the water looks fake. Traverse Town probably is still thre but is empty since their is no more use for it, since sora restored the worlds.

I miss Travers Town as well, but I have to agree with the others, that it was a good idea that it was taken out because they all went home.
but yeah I really miss it =[
