So uh..'bout them new rep titles

Yeah on khv not on msn. But on khv.

 

Me neither. I only voted for one of them because a friend asked me too. But I forgot who...

 

In any event it was over a KHV event. I think jurisdiction over it should partly go to KHV. I wasn't really flamed, but I felt that voicing the fact that I preffered choice B was going to be the death of me.

But if people are doing that stuff on msn (not khv) then why should they be punished?

e.g.

School rules say you can't throw paper airplanes around.

I'm 3 miles away and I throw a paper airplane. I should not be punished for that even if someone sees and tells on me.

Kind of like when its not allowed to post anything inappropriate on khv, but if you gave your friend on MSN a link to something inappropriate, then you shouldn't get banned for that.

You gave an example that is true.
But.
If the school heard someone planning to burn down the school, then the school would try and stop it. That's what I'm talking about.
PS: I'm not talking about the school itself, but its teachers and principle etc. xD

 

Why? Because your comparation fails to capture the esscence of what exactly happened. Let's say you are inside school. So they make a poll for all the school's students to partake in. Some students, outside of the campus force other students to chose what they are forced to.

The main problem stemed from the school, and it is also, in turn going to affect the school. So even when you're not on the school, it is school related. Not like a paper plane which doesn't really have anything to do with the school. In KHV measures were taken, and that's why the poll was closed.

So basically, no. Not a warning as an infraction, but the source of the problem was removed. They didn't do anything bad at KHV, so I don't see why punish them. But either way KHV took part of the problem.

 

It's funny how you're all calling someone who was/is/might be close to some of you 'pathetic'.

lol, there are like 3 folk here that i would consider bein' "close" to, but they are fairly inactive. I'm confident they aren't the mastermind.

 

I think it was Zandyne that came up with the current rep titles, well unless we've changed since hers. I think her's was kinda awesome :3

I was arguing that whatever happens outside of khv is uncontrollable and should not be reprimanded.

And of course khv took part of the problem. But the problem was not the outside "bullying" the problem was that people created multiple accounts to vote, and its unfair and stupid to vote twice. Sure you may be influenced to vote one way, but at the end of the day you're pushing a button. Whats the worse someone can do de-rep you? Let me point out the fact that in your situation the only reason why the school might get involved is because the students represent the school. On the internet, no one gives a **** about what site you go on, because you don't represent them. Its not like you have to go on it.

 

Comparing this event to any other sort of real-life instance (i.e. school) is very silly. These titles are just small statements that appear only if you hold your pointer over their reputation gems. Most members haven't even noticed these rep titles.

 

Since some of you have clearly not checked the rules:

We are aware that we have no control over matters that occur over MSN, however in some cases then yes it does become an issue for the site. For example (as I am sure the majority of you are aware) there was a relatively recent incident where we had to ban a member from the boards for their harrassment of members. Even though a lot of this was occuring on MSN, it was in the best interest of the site to remove that person.

In this particular case it was the actions taken on site (that being the alt accounts etc) which led to the rep title change being stopped. The incidents that occured on MSN (the bullying and intimidation tactics) whilst ****ing ******ed as hell, did not actually hold any sway over the decision to stop the change. That was just something else that added to the patheticness of some members with regards to something as small as reputation titles.
