Here are some tips that ice picked up over the past few years.

    1. Buy the books no matter what from the bookstore. If the teacher ends up saying you don't need it for one reason or another, return it. Your scholarship/loans/whatever paid for it, so returning it will give you a full refund and put money in your pocket.

    2. It is okay to fail. The world won't end. It surprisingly becomes easier once you know that. Once you get that degree, no one is going to ask what your grades are like.

    3. Always take a class that goes with your personal interests.

    4. Take the class that everyone complains about the teacher that he is either too difficult or too mean. It will be the most entertaining class that semester.

Can't give you any advices , my college experince was very different from what I saw in american movies (It is a shame it wasn't an american pie scenario), we don't have fraternities , and we don't have to pay to study in here (it is easier to end up being paid to do some research).

So I can't help you much... I guess never give up(?)! I second that about difficult classes though!

Just freak out in the first lecture of every unit and don't show up for a week or so.

This is right except that you should never buy them from your school's bookstore. It's a mega rip off. Pay for them out of pocket and get a good price online (Slug Books is an excellent site for this). You'll get all your excess scholarship/financial aid/whatever money in a refund check towards the end of the semester, and then you can sell the books back for near what you paid for them on eBay.

The bookstore will also give you very little when you return the books at the end of the semester.
