It's still as good as I remember. But it seems a bit more fast paced than other animes. Maybe that's just me though.
I watched all of season 2 back and 5 for the first time last summer. Surprisingly still as emotional as ever. I've found the dialogue to be quite sophisticated and comedic at parts. Quit some dumb word use and a good adaption of the original Japanese dialogue, and for the targeted age group.
Ah. I'm watching the first Season right now. I have to say, for a show that use to air on the Disney Channel the dialogue can be damn good at times (You know, compared to the rest of the Disney Channel). I honestly never liked the series after the first season. Well alright that's not true, Season 2 was pretty good too, but I never finished the rest because I thought it had gotten really boring. That was a long time ago though. Do you still recommend it?
I like Season 3, it was interesting seeing the series try to be more grounded in reality. But yeah I honestly don't remember much about Digimon.
Season 1: Original, emotional, comical, expansive, themes of growing up, friendship, adventure. Defiantly great. Season 2: The best of them all. Deals more with the generations of digidestinds that are out in the world, how they are all connected by the love and friendship of their Digimon, a community kind of. Also deals with the philosophy of the world in a way, with mystical Digimon and much darker themes like the loneliness of childhood and the death of family. Personally my favourite of the seasons. It's got love, betrayal, revelations, mysticism, human spirit all being delivered on a you teen level, and wraps up some stuff from Season 1. Season 3: See below. Season 4: To be honest it's not that great in my mind. The lack of any personal Digimon means relationships don't grow except between the kids, but they are just kid relationships, petty at times. Not like the lifetime commitment of the Digimon partners we've seen before. Not seen all of it, but it's just not enticing to watch. Not to mention since MegaUpload has gone I can't be the rest of that series. Season 5: I like this one. It went back to a more simple view on the main characters. You have the main character who wants to be the new of the best and his Agumon wants to help. The rich boy with family issues and no true friends, with a loyal servant of a digimon. The inexperienced girl with an air head of a Digimon who leants more about herself and the world because of it. The simple idea of friendship and personal growth are apparent mixed with the police enforcement of Digimon coming to the Real world, which is an interesting idea. And we get some kick ass Digimon and even the theme of misguided fighting and wars. A very nice edition to the Digimon Universe. A good one to watch for sure. Series 3 was when, in retrospect, the merchandising was playing a role. The use of cards in the series was really just promoting the buying of the real life cards for kids. It was at the start grounded more into reality, your on Earth and digital creatures are breaking through, by the end it really turned into a fantasy world breaking into reality. Not my favourite of the series out there, got some good points though. I do wonder what the latest series, Xross Wars, is all about...
