I was very turned off by the House character firstly, I understand that his sarcasm is a dimension of his character but it really bothered me in him. Now I enjoy sarcasm as much as the next person (Jane Austen is my favorite writer for god's sake), but his was just... mean. He frustrated me, mostly. It also bothered me that he always seemed to know what was wrong with the patients, but would pretty much play with their lives to train his underlings. Obviously they need to learn that it's not lupus and all, but it was just blergh.

I never found any of the other characters particularly endearing otherwise except for Olivia Wilde because yum, and I'm just not really one for doctor shows.

Granted, I've not watched many episodes and the ones I've seen were in no particular order.

House himself was exactly what I loved about the show.

It sounds like we have an idealist among us.

Authoritarian idealists are a special breed. It is always interesting to meet one. They think that people are generally good and yet they feel that coercion and violence are integral parts of human interaction that they simply could not function without.

In other words, yes, I was surprised.

This explains why you don't like me, my attitude has been compared to House.

    Nah, not really.
Nor would I consider myself "authoritarian," for that matter.

Really? I have only ever seen you support authoritarian means to solving problems. Not too long ago, you expressed a vague feeling that a third party needs to regulate people. I say vague because when I asked you what kinds of regulations you had in mind, you said you didn't know. In what way is wanting a third party intervention for the sake of a third party intervention not authoritarian?
