Selling back to Gamestop question

Yeah, I know selling back to gamestop gets you like...pocket change. But that's exactly what I need. And quick.
I've never sold back to Gamestop however, and their site is less than helpful.
So I need a small amount of cash and quick (otherwise, I'd sell online).
So...does anybody here know if Gamestop actually does give cash for used games or if its just store credit?
And is there any criteria for the games they'd buy?

 

They do give cash I believe, but the amount you'd get is less than what you'd get if you got store credit.

As for what to expect...Well, take what the game costs, and cut it in half. Expect less than that.

 

They'll give you cash, but there's usually some sort of bonus if you take the option for store credit. It's never what the game is actually worth though. I'd suggest trying to find a local store that sells games based on collector value. There's probably at least one in your area.

As for what Gamestop will buy, they'll buy DS games and up, PS2 games and up, Gamecube and up, and XBox and up. They don't buy PC games because they usually have one-time use activation codes. They also buy any consoles PS2 era and up. Handhelds are DS and up. They also buy various mp3 players and other Apple products.

I work at Eb Games/Gamestop and we have to give them store credit. Certain games have a specific trade in value, so it changes from time to time, if it's an old game then you're not getting much for it. For the ones in Canada, you need to show ID to do a trade because it's a by law here

 

I'm surprised to see people in here saying they'll give you cash. I'm almost 100% sure that's it's only for store credit.

 

...damn it. I have no working cell phone at the moment or car, so I'd rather find out now before biking 3 freakin' hours and not getting cash.

 

I've done it before. Unless they changed it in the last year, they will give you cash. What games do you have?

God of War Collection
Valkyria Chronicles
Uncharted 1
Demon's Souls
Grand Theft Auto IV

All of them but GTA are in case, with instruction booklet, and work perfectly fine. GTA's just the disc.

 

Unfortunately you won't get a whole lot for those. How much do you need?

God of war alone will probably get you around...I'd say 7 bucks all together at Gamestop, the rest...you should have around 17-18 dollars...Barely...

 

I can tell you GTA goes for 6.50 (someone brought it in and I remember the price)
I think God of War will get you a bit more because it is a popular title and there are people looking for it. Old games will range around the 5 dollar price. if you can wait till next week, I can check all the prices for you. lol But I doubt that would be necessary.

 

I'd try selling over eBay--I just got rid of some old games on there and made $70 in a month. ._.

 

You'll definitely get cash, because there's no time I've gone there that they haven't given me the option for cash instead of in-store credit. I just always go for the credit because I usually buy something right after I trade something in.
But if you're going for $16, I think with that list of games you could probably get around that. While you do get a small amount of money from games that you sell, PS3 games can still give you a fair amount, even if it's not what you expect. Unless it's like 8-years old or something, which I doubt, you shouldn't have problems. When I sold some PS2 games to gamestop I managed to still get around $12 for a single game. FFXIII I'm getting you could get close to $10 by itself, but that's just a guess

 

Put Valkyria Chronicles back on your shelf right this instant, a sin to trade that in.

Also wow, Gamestop sounds terrible, our shop Game Station would net you about £8-10 for each of those games.

 

well, you're actually better off selling back to gamestop than giving it to some other random game store. True, Ebay would definitely net you more money, but sometimes you could wait a while for what you want

 

To get 16 bucks cash, you'd have to get $20 trade in credit, and it's possible that you could get that much.

Why don't you just sell heroin like an adult?

 

They mostly don't take Gamecube or Xbox titles anymore, unless you see them selling them. Not much if any profit in it if they see nobody wants them. My three closest Gamestops also stopped carrying PS2 games.

I sold Portal 2 maybe a month after it came out and got $8. From then on I will never sell a game to Gamestop for cash again.
