xxxxx You appear on a misty cobblestone path near a beautiful gazebo, the night sky alit with twinkling stars. There is no breeze to push the fog away and so it stays, slightly obscuring the view of an imposing, glowing ivory structure. As you move closer, footsteps crunching over a plain slightly curved gravel strewn path, the building comes into complete view. It's rather impressive. White, twinkling fairy lights are strung around the seven pillars that support the roof of the gazebo and also wind and stretch their way over the pinewood posts and railings.

Excluding the short steps of the stairs that lead into the inner circle of the gazebo, nearly everything is illuminated by the large bulbs. About fifteen people can fit the inside, and there's a smooth pinewood bench built in a circular shape for sitting. This is the inner-circle. One must step over the bench it to enter and exit the ring it makes.

Something about this particular building makes it different, and it's not the beauty of it - or the eerie fog hugging the field like a ghostly blanket. It's the strange, varnished Oaken door that towers above your sitting forms. The one that is dead in the center of the inner ring, with a glowing sign above it that reads "Lobby" in black stencil.

You are not the first to arrive here, and as you struggle to find a place to sit, you find yourself tuning into the passionate speech of the amethyst-eyed host standing by the oaken door you noticed earlier. Her long silvery violet hair is barely tamed in a bun with several randomly placed hairpins, but the rest of her seems pretty put together; the white feathery dress she wears contrasting nicely with her chestnut stained skin.

Her voice carries through the gazebo and probably far into the thick cover of fog as she explains why it is you're here and what it is you'll be doing. None of this is news to you. You came here to compete for the crown and are intent on winning the title of RP Idol. And so, as she introduces the judges, explains the function of the door, and other such boring things, you're eyes glide around the room to take in your competition.

Before you know it, it's time for the vote and you scribble down your pick for the first World you'll enter on a simple note card. As one of the judges, a girl with brown hair and sparkling ruby eyes who goes by the name of Naridd Lein Ame, tallies the votes, the host Jayn explains how the door has the ability to alter memories. She emphasizes that reality will not be restored until they return to the lobby, and that each challenge will be very real to the lot of you.

Though it's a bit of a scary concept, you're ultimately fine with it. You have your reasons as to why you need to win this competition and you're willing to do what it takes.

Naridd Lein Ame announces that your first world will be related to magic, and the tall, snow-haired man ( Twilight Blader - as you remember him ) with sun-kissed skin asks that you choose which form you will take before entering the door [ fourth wall breaking this is referring to if you will use your male or female character ].

Jayn pulls down on a lever jutting out of the strange door in the center of the gazebo, and the glowing sign with black stencil begins to roll much like a machine in a casino before spelling out 'Do You Believe in Magic?' and you muse over what kind of challenge this will be.

Twilight Blader opens the door to reveal ... well, nothing ( which somehow makes this whole thing a bit sketchy ), and steps back, allowing you and your competitors to begin filing into the inky darkness one by one ...

    [ SETTING & MISSION ]

xxxxx Welcome to Unililath; a colorful world where almost anything is possible! We've got witches and sorcerers in vibrate, theatrical clothing, the ability to fly with enchanted objects ( and with enough practice, on your own! ) magical creatures, a multicolored sky with three moons and all sorts of unearthly junk.

You wake up in an abandoned carriage with your competitors ( in this scenario, none of you know each other personally - you just know that you've come from Earth because it's obvious ), right in the heart of the bustling city of Etilassi. This city is known for it's rambunctious residents, and a plethora of rare ingredients for spells and potions. Once you stumble out of the carriage, you'll take a quick look around and see that you're in the marketplace.

It becomes apparent that you're not dreaming, so what the heck is this?!?! You have to wrap your head around the fact that this is a real world with magic and that you're stuck in it. You don't know how you got here and you don't know how you'll get out.

You'll have 7 days to post, and your goal is moving through the marketplace and meeting up with NPC Jayn who will be wearing 'earthly attire' outside of a costume shop. You think you may get some answers from her. Move as a group, and when you spot her, approach and make conversation with her. The challenge / round will end soon after the majority of you decide whether or not you're going to believe her or if you think this is some kind of sick joke even after her explanation. There is no right answer here, react as your character would.

TAKE YOUR TIME interacting with each other and finding the NPC. The point of the challenge is to describe the magical world you've fallen into and most of your points will be gathered during this time. Once you find the NPC, you will not have very much time to describe the world you see or to talk to one another. You have a full seven days, so as long as you're posting that's plenty of time to make your way over. Take at least a few days to interact with each other and your world.

    [ CHALLENGE & RULES ]

xxxxx So what's the challenge? The judges and I want to see how well you can paint a picture of your surroundings. What do you do when the creator of the role play doesn't spell ever little detail out for you or give you a picture to go off of? I've given you something to start with, and now it's up to you to be descriptive. Describe the marketplace and the people you see. Describe what you're wearing and how you're feeling. Make the judges and I invest in the story you're writing.

Another important part of this is working off of each other. If one RPer says they see a giant dinosaur off in the distance smashing down villages, then it would be kind of strange if no other character noticed that. So we'll be looking for teamwork as well, as the whole point of an RP is to tell a story together.

Because you'll be moving as a group, please use this thread as the OOC to discuss anything you may need to with each other and please also ask any questions there!

    >> Please use only one character for this challenge. <<

The carriage bumped and rocked, causing Mae Hollins the slightest bit of an upset stomach. Her green eyes flitted through the thick, old-fashioned glass window beside her to see if she could take in the slightest of her surroundings. Cobblestone was to blame for her anxiety; bits of uneven stones and pebbles of grey, brown, and onyx. No, wait, that one brown block was where the carriage dipped and rocked even more than it had before, and the smell of freshly upturned manure hit Mae's sensitive nose with all the force of a punch to the face. She gagged, but repressed the urge to throw up in a crowded vehicle when she had nearly no idea who they were and why she was there with them to begin with. She could not place her finger on it, but she felt as though this world were not here own, but it was still one in which she was most certainly a inhabitant occupying space in a flowing, emerald skirt with peach bloomers ruffling at her black boot-covered heels. Her shirt was satin, pale yellow with shiny opal buttons, and conservative in structure; it plumed around her esophagus slightly as if her thin throat was the stem of a lily. Her hair had gone completely purple, but as far as she knew, that was her hair that she had tied into a tight bun that topped her fair head, and was held together with an emerald band and an opal-buttoned fastener.

She'd not been awake long. Only long enough to spot the stones beneath the rolling carriage. No. It wasn't rolling. In fact, she hadn't felt movement in some time as she concentrated on her immediate surroundings. Feeling safe to get out, Mae crept through the side door and heard her boots click on the street as the city of Etilassi flooded her all at once. Luckily, the fragrance of Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme filled her nostrils long before the tang of fresh droppings could, and numerous other, untraceable scents made their way to her, but it was really the sights that boggled her the most. She nearly lost her footing as she met with the sky and its bevy of hues and mixed, inky colors. It was like if someone had taken a work of art and soaked it in water long enough for the image to blur and blend into colors that had no reason to be together in one sky; but the grandness and the sparkling of each bright star was too captivating to really question or doubt it being. Wait a moment, how had she known "Etilassi"? In the oddest of answers, she met sight with a signpost nearly as soon as she stopped to ask herself odd questions. "City of Etilassi Municipal Building" was carved intricately into a oval piece of well-polished wood that hung from an iron bar jutting from the grey stones of a rather large building. Only two or three inches below said sign, while Mae stepped closer to the building to examine it, was a wooden door with iron fasteners and door hinges that went well with a rotund, golden doorknob that tempted Mae just to turn it by its being there. She reached for it, but retracted as one of the many denizens of the streets pushed past her as he ran. Ragged, but curiously dressed all the same, the mysterious figure went gallivanting down the street with a gleeful gait as he clutched...

"Oi! Thass me button, ye thief!" Mae's voice itself was like an Irish Folk song in its intonation, if, albeit, an angry Irish Folk Song. A complete stranger had just snatched and run off with the top button of her coat and produced a sight of the full front of her neck and the dimpled crevice at the base of where it met the top of her rib-cage. Not one of many in the crowd streets payed her any mind, but it could have been, as Mae soon supposed, was because of all the loud commotion the huge gathering making. Barters, bargains, and bets were made by consumer and supplier alike as stand after stand that littered the streets like a disheveled bookshelf of disorderly, unsorted books. The din was a little bit to take in at once, but as she really took in each new aspect, it soon ingrained a sense of normalcy into her mind that brought an alien sense of calm. Slowly, she crossed back over to the riderless, horseless carriage she'd left in the alleyway by the municipal building. Rattling on the wooden door, with all due haste, she thickly pounded with her fist to rouse the attention of those she'd woken up around. She wasn't sure what they could do, but maybe she did know them. Maybe there was a reason she was there. Only... she could smell everything sweet and sour in the air as the din of a colorful street burned into her mind and succeeded in making her uncomfortable right down to the very bone.

During the carriage ride the eyes of Chrona wandered, looking at just about everything that he possible could. One minute he was looking at the various faces of the people in the carriage and another his gaze was directed outside, looking at the passing cobblestone and the various groups of birds flying in the sky. The whole situation felt strange, he didn't see any problems with it right now. Sure there were plenty of questions that he had and wanted answers too, but the adventurous or rather reckless side of Chrona had the most control in this situation.

As the carriage soon came to a stop his attention was finally taken from the outside and directed to the door that would lead them to the outside world. He waited til the girl wearing a emerald skirt had gotten off before exiting. Now there was nothing keeping him was looking around, which was exactly what he did. The street around them was filled with people walking around to get to their desired locations, merchants in their booths trying to sell all kinds of clothing food and random items and trinkets could and finally the occasional person dress in tattered clothes running around.

Speaking of which, it seemed the girl who'd gotten off before him had just gotten one of her buttons snatched by some kids and she ran after the thief. He wasn't quite sure what he woudl do with that button, but whatever he was planning, the thief was running with said button. The whole sequence of events had prompted Chrona to take a look at his own clothes to makes sure that their was nothing that could be taken from him. His black and white hooted jacket didn't have any buttons so they were safe, there wasn't anything valuable on nor in his black pants nor his belt, at lest he didn't think that there was anything valuable there and finally he wasn't wearing any visible jewelry, since the necklace he was wearing was tucked underneath his shirt, so that was out too. Yep, he seemed to have a fairly low risk of being mugged, but people think that all the time and it happens to them so he would have to be on his guard.

That was about when the girl from earlier had returned, he was uncertain if she'd gotten her button back or not, but that could wait for later. as she pounded on the wooden door, he decided to speak and break the silence. "Maybe we should start looking around. There might be something of use for us he." It might've been a long shot, but it was certainly better than doing nothing. That much was for certain and who knows, a little sight seeing might do them some good after being in the carriage.

Garen woke with a start to a pounding sound. He instinctively brandished Skullcrusher in response to the shock, then relaxed when he realized it was just someone banging on the door. Briefly, he looked around the inside of the small room he was in, the walls were a dark wood and had windows on all sides, he was sitting on a bench that extended out from the walls all around except two spaces for the doors placed opposite each other, the bench was topped with velvet cushions and the floor was carpeted. "Skullcrusher, you awake." He shook the large hammer to be sure that it was. "Any idea how we got here, or where here is?" His conversation with his weapon was interrupted by the continued banging on one of the doors. Irritated he stood up to go deal with the pounding, and felt something very wrong. His movements felt...restricted somehow, and there was a rough texture moving against his skin, plus his feet felt cramped. He looked down and realized for nearly the first time in his life he was fully dressed. He was wearing a dark woolen coat and a pair of shining leather shoes. Interestingly enough his pants still seemed to be the same ones he always wore. He quickly stripped off the shoes and moved to the door that was being banged on, enjoying the feeling of the soft carpet against his bare feet. He pulled the coat off as he was walking.

He slammed the door open with force enough to shove back the girl who was rattling on it and stepped out, his hammer held lazily in his right hand. He looked down at the small girl and almost felt like she wasn't worth the effort, but still demanded that she stop pounding on the door because it annoyed him.

Something of use. Mae nodded to the wise individual curtly and just as she wrapped upon the door, she was swept off her feet as the wooden door slammed into her chest and knocked her onto her back full force. She glared at the one who'd caused the fall, and the fire in her eyes only grew in fervor as he proceeded to do the opposite of apologizing. "Well, ya great dumb ox, I ain't too keen on havin' been knocked on me bum eit'her." She was short in stature, but not in spirit and strength combined. For some reason, she knew she could take that lummox on, but only rose sharply to her feet, dusted off the back of her skirt, and gave the look a cross mother gives a spoiled-rotten child. "Don't tink I give a flyin' ace what makes yew annoyed, dough boy." Mae made it a point to be as condescending as possible in her tone; if he was going to push others around and not give a thought (In the heat of the moment, Mae supposed the brute was purely incapable of thought) to others, then she would make sure he would know his place. Chiefly, she thought, being a heavy-lifter and hopefully not a heavy-thinker.

"So far, outta two men, yer teh only tahave said anythin' a' use. Where da yew sappose weh start?" She had to speak up; the roar of the market place was a little overbearing for her shot nerves.

As Chrona stood there waiting as the girl pounded her first on the wood, he tried his best to ignore the annoying sound. Least he wasn't inside the carriage still for it must've been a lot worse for them too. Suddenly the beating stopped and the girl was knocked onto the ground by the opening of the door. What Chrona had expected to see was someone walk out looking annoyed cause of said beating, not some guy wielding a giant hammer. As the man looked down on the girl he'd knocked over, Chrona's eyes were still glues to the hammer for it gave him a bad feeling inside. Just gotta make sure not to get on his bad side.

Unfortunate it seemed that the girl had the exact opposite idea in mind for she got back up and soon expressed her dislike of being knocked down. While seeing a girl of her size challenge someone of the hammer man's size was interesting to say the least, he was glad that no one had made any attempts to attack. Then she started to speak to him, which due to her accent took Chrona a couple of second to piece together what she said, not that the loudness of the marketplace made that any easier. "Well we are in a market place, lets look around here and see if they've seen or know of anything useful to us."

    Hnng...hnruff...hmm...?

David blearily slogged his way back to the land of wakefulness, hearing someone knocking on his bedroom door. Weird, he didn't remember falling asleep sitting up, or with any other people...

    ...Wait, what?

David forced his eyelids open and sat bolt upright. It took him a moment to process that he was in an honest-to-God carriage with a group of strangers.

Someone climbed over and past him to open the carriage door (Is that a warhammer?!), and someone outside fell over. The person outside started scolding hammer-guy in a thick Scottish brogue, and then he heard another voice outside suggesting looking around. So...does that mean...

David awkwardly stood up in the packed carriage and tried to squeeze past hammer-guy, who hadn't moved from the doorway. "E-excuse me," he said, trying to keep his voice even. "None of you know where we are, eithe—"

From the doorway, he could finally see outside, and it stopped him dead in his tracks. Their carriage was dead in the middle of an enormous medieval-esque marketplace. Stalls, booths, tents, and busy shoppers and traders, all of a wide spectrum of colors and shapes, stretched as far as he could see. Scents, fragrances, and odors assaulted his nose—spices, food, sweat and body odor, animal droppings—and he felt momentarily overwhelmed. He almost wondered if a renaissance fair had moved into town, but this seemed too...real.

"...Sorry, can I get through, please?" David asked the hammer-guy. He definitely wasn't going to solve anything or find anything out by waiting around in the carriage, even if it was safer. Probably. "Looking around should help some, if only to find out who brought us here and when," he added helpfully to the guy outside's suggestion.

Garen smirked down at the small girl as she scolded him; she was brave, standing up to someone so much bigger than she was (to say nothing of the hammer). He leaned down so that his face was closer to hers. "Y'know what kid? I like you, you've got guts."

"Huh?" As he heard a meek voice behind him he stopped talking to the girl and looked behind him to see a short, scrawny guy trying to exit. "Yeah come on out." He stepped to the side to let the guy out, and looking from him to the other two muttered, "Lotta short people here."

He surveyed the area, looking at the colors dancing in the sky, at the myriad of browns and greens and blues in the crowd, and at all the stalls selling who-knows-what. "As for looking around," he brought his eyes back to the small group forming outside the carriage, "I'm more interested in what we're doing here. This doesn't look like anyplace I've been before." As he said this he turned his head back toward the sky to illustrate his point. "Sky's kinda pretty though." He wasn't aware that he'd said that out loud.

"Thanks." David hopped out of the carriage, then frowned when he heard hammer-guy mutter something about him being short. He wasn't that short!

...Or, at least, he wasn't ever going to admit to it.

"Well, once we find out when and who, that'll probably lead us to why," he pointed out, but hammer-guy had a point about the place itself. It didn't look like anywhere David knew, either. At the last comment, he tilted his head in confusion, then looked up...and was bewildered and awed.

The sky was blended between impossible shades of blue, purple, pink, red, and orange, with almost cartoonishly fluffy clouds drifting lazily by. There seemed to be a sun out, as it was bright enough to see, and the market was positively bustling, yet the skyline was dominated by three distinct moons.

    "...Whoa."

It took him a few moments, but David managed to rear his eyes away from the magnificent sky. "I hate to say it because of how cliché it is," he grimaced. "But we're definitely not in Kansas anymore. Or even Earth." The words seemed right—Earth only had one moon, and he'd never seen a sky with those colors—but it still seemed too bizarre to be true.

With all this talk about the sky, it was only natural that Chrona would turn his attention towards the sky as well. Not quite sure how he missed this while he was looking around in the carriage, but the sky above them was multi colored. "Wow is right." It was almost like he was staring at a rainbow that never ended. Having felt like he stared at the sky long enough, he was just about to look back at the others before he noticed the dual moons in the sky. Two moons, moving perfectly in sync with each other in the sky, least there wasn't two suns in the sky. That might make the planet a little to hot for his taste.

Finally taking his eyes off the sky, he looked to the others and spoke. "Maybe we'll find someone who knows why we're here and what we're doing here." They would be killing two birds with one stone if they actually could find someone with that kind of knowledge. Unfortunately there were still people inside the carriage who hadn't gotten out yet. "Maybe someone should stay behind in case anyone else gets up. That way they can tell them were we are and catch up to us."

"Y'know what kid? I like you, you've got guts."

Mae cringed a bit; she hadn't expected such a congenial response. It brought in equal parts shame in her action and the regret she'd have to return the trust; it was simply in her nature. She winced and turned around to maintain her presence that had been already respected. She planted her hands on her hips and nodded to Garen.

"I may've overspoken, eh?" Her Irish lilt squeaked not out of shyness, but only to emphasis her chagrin and humility. "Mae Collins." She offered her hand out for a shake.

"But we're definitely not in Kansas anymore. Or even Earth."

Distracted, Mae looked around at the locals and found they wore odd wardrobes that weren't a far fetch from what her current company was wearing. "Are... are yew abselootlee sarten tha' we're naht locals ahselves? Ah cannuh recall bein' anywhere else."

She'd only just finished speaking her bit when Chrona had his say. She looked from him to the others in the carriage. "Ah have a good min' ta fine the lil' rascal who stole from me, an' Ah have the slightest fahlin' havin' "muscles" 'ere wit' us woul' be wise." She jabbed a thumb in the direction of Garen. "Not sayin' it'sa ba' ideer, jus' tryin' tah make sarten we keep ahr wits righ' in order."

Garen was surprised at the kind response from the girl, "Mae," he had expected more of her previous attitude. "Whatever," he thought. She'd already earned his respect by her former bravery, if she wanted to be friendly now that she had it, it didn't make much difference to him. He was about to introduce himself as well when she spoke again.

He turned to adress the whole group. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're not from around here, or at least I know I'm not." He pointed upwards. "I distinctly remember the sky being one color. And it seems a little far fetched to think we'll just find someone who has all the answers for us. Personally I'd prefer chasing thieves, might get some action that way." He stopped talking briefly and looked down at his hammer, "Skullcrusher agrees with me, if his vote counts." Then he looked back at Mae, "I'm Garen by the way," he moved his hammer where it was easily visible to her, "and this is Skullcrusher."
