Gabe floated int the water silently listening to April's responses. He wished he could freely speak with her but she looked so fragile, like Lulu had been. Closing his eyes he wished he had his sword to fiddle with. He dove underwater and swam like a pro to the deeper end. Staying like that underwater to think.

Gabriel sighed, believing he was always too harsh on his son. Though threats on the first day were a little alarming. Gabranth's mortality was hightened from his angelic blood, making him not angel but half, in Gabriel's old world, a Nephilim.

 

Toby sat on the bench,watching the kids,he kept looking at Forrest,he felt like he had a connection with him....though he couldnt put his finger on it

 

April turned and watched as Gabe swam expertly away from them below the water surface, her face looked as though deep in thought as she gazed on.

 

Toby gave a whistle to get their attention "Wanna have a race?"

 

"Oh, Tobz, you can swim? I'm impressed" Rita said to him, slowly swimming over to where he was.

 

"Of course I can...how else would they learn?"

 

"Well, I do recall Zackity Dackity telling me you had to swim with a rubber ring 20 odd years ago when we were in school"

 

"Didnt I ever tell you not to listen to him?"

 

"Yes you did....buuut." She held up a picture of 16 year old Toby with a rubber ring. "Zack gave me photographic evidence, he even made it immune to destruction"

 

"I uh...was never a strong swimmer.."

 

"Hehehehehehehehehe, I think I'll include this in the assembly this evening...you know...the one where you're going to make a very big welcoming speech to all the new students?"

 

"I dont think you will."

 

"And why would that be? I've already posted it all around the school"

 

He raised a eyebrow

 

At that moment, Yuri came running into the pool area, "Hey guys! have you seen the awesome picture of Toby wearing a rubber ring? whoever took that is a legend!" Then he ran out again.

Rita laughed, "Well, we gonna have that race or what?!"

 

"If I ever see Zack again....remind me to kill him."

 

"With pleasure, but y'know, he isn't all that bad, I mean, he has had his cool moments.......right?"

 

Gabriel snorted from his dark corner he'd retreated to, "Yeah right. I just think he's a pain."

Gabe popped back up to the surface and avoided everyone's eyes. He floated for a minute and listened to the water distorted words of the people around him.

 

"But you don't know him as well as me and Tobz, Remember when he would always conveniently appear whenever his name was mentioned, kinda creepy actually..."
