Anyhow, I always thought the laugh thing was intentionally bad?

It was comedy bro. Besides, pretty much everything he said in that review was reasonable. Unless you liked stuff like drawing magic, in which case you need to get off my internet right now.

That game was epic ;-; Even though I hated the gameplay of it. I'm Captain Basch von Ronsenberg of Dalmasca! I loved that part, unlike the laughing scene in FFX *glare*

Well excuse me, but I do happen to enjoy fantasy over the real world. I've had 17 years of it, and I'd rather enjoy something other than it. And XII was good, but I hated the gameplay. Never managed to finish it either, because one stupid boss kept killing me, and it was taking forever to level up

But Final Fantasy VIII wasn't really fantasy, it was more failed science fiction. It also had a terrible plot with some pretty major plotholes and pretty bad characters for the most part. The gameplay was just busy work. I like fantasy, I don't like crappy final fantasies though.

I thought the plot was just fine, along with the characters. There wasn't anything wrong with it. You're looking too much into it. Because the game was just fine.

I think you should watch Spoony's review. After disc one the plot just goes insane and there's no logic to anything. Fans of the game have tried to explain that with Squall dying when he gets pierced, since even the big fans of the game thinks that the plot makes no sense after disc one. Of course they're just giving Square too much credit of course, but what I'm saying is that the plot was not very good. At all.

Here's the theory on Squall being dead if anyone wants to read it: http://squallsdead.com/

the plot is fine. They end up failing to do their task, they get taken prisoner, they escape and find out they have to save the garden, and then things just role along like any other game. It's perfectly fine. I'm never watching Spoony, since in my opinion, his arguments are invalid, because I don't see any fault in he game

You're not even the fun kind of fanboy, for shame, for shaaaame. You can't see any faults because you won't open your eyes, you're afraid of judging the game because you can't see past the fact that it has Final Fantasy on the box.

    I rate this thread a 9.1/10

You're looking at it too passively.
Final Fantasy VIII had A LOT of **** going on, **** that was either not explained, unexplored or just plain ambiguous.
Just read up on Squall's dead, as interesting as the whole thing is, the sheer fact that an entire game's worth of events has to be explained through theories is bad story design.

Prime example is what happened to Squall after he got impaled at the end of Disc 1?
Did he get healed? By who? And why does everything get so ****ing redonkulous after disc 1?
I have no problem with the introduction of witches but what about NORG? I thought monsters only appeared on the planet a few years ago, why the hell is he underneath Balamb Garden?

It's as Christopher says, you don't see the faults because you refuse to look at them.
As I said, I LIKE Final Fantasy VIII, I have many fond memories of Final Fantasy VIII (other then drawing. Seriously, **** that system) but even I can see just why people hate Final Fantasy VIII.

umm, did you not pay attention to the conversation they had before he got the crap beaten out of him? And he wasn't a monster. He was a Shumi. Just an abnormally large one. You can even do a miniquest at the shumi village. And I stopped thinking about the whole impaled thing, because I came up with so many things, but Seifer did say they needed information, and they had Squall, so someone healed him, simple as that. Personally, I can find no fault at all with it. You'd be surprised how much I look into a lot of games, and there are questionable thing, like how Squall seemed to get across that giant bride and for some reason everyone else gets there ahead of him, but that's just something to leave alone.

SO then what exactly qualifies as a moneter in the Final Fantasy VIII world?
