Ok, really. Ghetto is right, you're really acting ignorant. Hip Hop isn't a rip off of another song. If you hear a part of another song in a recent song it's called a "sample" and is used to add a little flavor in some songs to add the certain mood in it. And you really don't have to play the guitar or drums to be considered a great musician. A great musician is someone who can write or make a good song that can make people think, laugh, cry, relate to, or dance to. And it takes as much talent to produce a song using a computer or beat maker as it does to make a song using a guitar, drums, bass and other instruments. There are a lot of songs that make you think and speak the truth that people wouldn't really think about or would over look. Music is a form of expression and hip hop is no different. It can vary from someone talking about getting a girl to do "dirty stuff" as you said, just talk about how life is so screwed up and how things need to be changed, or just be a song of celebration. I like Hip Hop because it always varies and has songs for every mood your in. A celebrating, happy mood (like the song "Good Life" by Kanye West ft T-Pain) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=su_zrW9WBVk), an angry mood (like the song "One Mic" by Nas) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrlZUlcV_Fg), a sad mood (like the song "Part of the Plan" by Swizz Beatz ft Chris Martain) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZefyisZBkg) etc.

Rock. I just don't really like most rap. Rap was good in the 80's, but now most rap has become the same thing recycled over and over again. Most mainstream rock today also is nothing that great, but a lot of nonmainstream rock (as well as a few mainstream songs) are pretty good.

Rock forever. Classic rock, Alternative rock, metal, prog, punk, you name it.
I rarely like rap. Actually, there are only about 2 rap artists that I like: k-os and Flobots. I like k-os because he actually sings in his songs, as well as rap. I like Flobots because of their lyrics and tune. But other than those two, I rarely listen to rap/hip hop. It's just way to repetitive and the chanting of the lyrics gets so annoying.

This thread is pointless because most of the posters are ******ed and can't have a valid reason for anything they say.

I like rock better than rap simply because I enjoy the sound more. Is that a legit reason?

    Truer words haven't been spoken.

That's really the only reason anyone here should have to give. Why is there a need to justify your preference?

Rock. Rap generally annoys me, with some exceptions. It's not a sucky genre, I'm just a hardcore rocker. I need something I can headbang to.
