Birth by Sleep Question about Dimension Links

in the Mirage Arena it looks like you can access dimension links with people you play with. i chose my friend as a dimension link but how do i use it? their character doesn't appear in the dimension link menu and looking at the help/tutorial menus it's clear that there IS someway to access your friends as dimension link (it's too bad all those menus are in Japanese though). any help would be awesome.


edit: nevermind, it was something really obvious. we both just can't send the request at the same time.
