Dark shadows was awful. The plot was all over the place, and what could've been a great story was ruined. The trailer made it out to be far better than it was. Though Depp is an amazing actor, the movie just didn't cut it.

Oh my god no. Dark Shadows was hard to watch.

EDIT: And it isn't even comparable to the Hunger Games. I get why people compare movies, but they are so different. I didn't read the Hunger Games, but when I saw it I liked it because it was emotionally compelling, and it had a good plot and action scenes. Dark Shadows was literally just cheeky and trying too hard to be funny, and I just didn't like how awkward Johnny Depp was at fitting into society. I get that he is a supposed to be a vampire, but c'mon it was trying way to hard.

I feel the opposite. I feel like Hunger Games moved way too slow with the pacing. I also didn't feel any emotional connection with any of the major characters. They even treated Rue as a very low ranking character. Dark Shadows had weird pacing too. It was fast, but that works with the movie, considering the tone. And Depp's acting alone made me feel sympathetic for him, and was easily able to work with the whole theme of the movie.

And the only reason I compare these two is because i know that Dark Shadows was not the worst movie I have seen all year. That belongs to the Hunger Games. To clarify, Hunger Games is not a bad movie, I just try my best to avoid paying money for a movie that I'm going to dislike. I was just trying to think of other movies i saw that were not as good.

    PUPPYBOWL HUNGER GAMES!

Well, at this point of the thread you hadn't actually given an argument as to why the Hunger Games were bad, you just compared it to another movie...

I really enjoyed the slower build up, it made the actual Games so much more intense to me, and I kinda enjoyed the playing the media aspect of it all too. And as someone who hadn't read the books before hand, I definitely felt the impact of what happened to Rue (crying nearly as hard as I did when Deathly Hallows came out), so while she didn't necessarily have as much screen time, I almost felt like she was the emotional center of the whole film. The jolty camera got annoying though >.<
