    As for those of you who say that it's Tide-us because he fits with water and all that. Well that's just a very convenient Wooleyism. In Japanese, his name is Tida which is Okinawan for sun. Meant to contrast with Yuna's name which is Okinawan for moon.

    Tee dus I guess ? I don' t know how to spell the dus part to convey my pronounciation. Point is I pronounce it like any French person does. Does anyone know if Tidus means something in Latin ? In French most words with an "us" suffix have Latin roots.

    tidus is not latin.

    the -us suffix is the nominative singular for 2nd declension, which is what most masculine words in latin derive their endings from. however names dont come from that, if they had -us on the end it would be because that name is spelled that way, not because it is a part of any chart. that said my latin is pretty rusty so i could be completely wrong.
