    Somewhat fascinatingly, the new fighter was confirmed to be Croagunk, who was already in the game as a support Pokémon. Croagunk is a Speed type character, much like the other fairly relatively small Pokémon it's now alongside.

    Say hello to the newest fighter: Empoleon!

    Empoleon will be added to the arcade game starting on December 15. No word on the Wii U version.

    Announced in today's Pokémon Direct was Pokkén Tournament DX, a port of the game for the Nintendo Switch! This version of the game will add all of the arcade fighters and supports, as well as Decidueye as a new fighter! The game will now also offer split-screen gameplay.

    Pokkén Tournament DX will launch worldwide on September 22.

    In a surprising move, it was announced today that paid DLC is coming to Pokkén Tournament DX, introducing Aegislash and Blastoise as playable characters, while also introducing Rayquaza, Mimikyu, Mew, and Celebi as support options, split between two waves of content.

    As of January 31st this content will be available for download, and can be pre-purchased now for £13.49/$14.99/€14.99/1852¥ on the Switch's eshop.
