Yuki smiled as she kept singing.

 

Sakuya continued to play.

 

"I don't know what you want from me. You're crazy!" Lady Shiv laughed, "Crazy, maybe, but I serve a higher purpose. Making you one of the shadows is only the beginning. But...we can work out the details later, after you've had another dose of your 'medicine', dear." She pulled out a large needle and Zain jerked, "Oh, no you don't. I'm not taking any more of that stuff. You stay the hell away from me!" he flung open the window and jumped out. Running with at least a dozen shadows on his tail down the street.

 

Yuki stopped singing.

"I've got a bad feeling now."

 

Toya and Sakuya grabbed their weapons.

 

Yuki drew her scythe and went looking for Zain.

 

Zain ran and tripped like in scary movies. "No, no, no! This can't be happening again!" Shadows chanted the same thing over and over, One with power. Their speech was terribly wronged with grammar and Zain dropped his illusion, picking up his lance, "I'll beat the crap outta anyone of you who touches me first!" His fangs glittered and grew longer as the sun started to go down. Blazing red and purple eyes he glared at them, "Who wants to be first."

 

Yuki saw Zain and ran towards him.

 

Zain snarled, loosing control over himself as the sun set. Slicing through a few shadows he turned when he smelt Yuki draw near, "...Yuki..." His face was feral as he stared at her. The shadows temporarily stopped moving and looked where he was.

 

Yuki cut through the shadows to get to Zain.

 

Zain sweeped his arm around him and the shadows parted for her. "Hello sister Yuki. So nice of you to bring dinner." the shadows and he laughed as if it were some sort of inside joke.

 

"What are you talking about?"

 

Zain's laughter cut off in a strangled sound, "You shouldn't have come for me. I've insisted before...do not...save me." Lifting his hands he shrugged, "I can't make it any clearer. You feel bad for the lost orphan boy, you pity him. How...pathetic." Shadows edged closer to her and he snarled at them, "Touch her and you're all dead!"

 

Toya and Sakuya watched what was happening. Sakuya gripped her weapon, waiting to help Yuki. Toya simply watched the scene unfold.

 

"Come on, let me help you, brother. This isn't like you."

 

Zain shook his head, "No...it's not is it. Look at them, Yuki! These...creatures are like me! All alone in the world, unloved, but they don't care. All they worry about is where their next meal is coming from." A shadow rubbed against his leg and he kicked it, "Don't touch me!" His emotions were out of wack. Neither humans nor shadow was comforting to him.

Lady Shiv walked slowly toward him, "What have you been doing to my poor little monster. Oh, look how confused he is."

 

"I don't know who you are, but leave my brother alone. He's no monster."

 

Lady Shiv shook her head, "Oh, but he is. Look at him. Fangs, oddly colored eyes, why I wouldn't be surprised if he sprouted talons and horns and such pretty soon. Oooh, Zain, darling, wouldn't that be just lovely?" Zain shook his head and cowered back from her, "N-no! You stay away from me! I'm not your experiment!" She pulled the long needle from her coat pocket, "Don't be like that. This is your medicine. It'll make you better."

 

"The only monster I see here is you, you old bat!" Yuki yelled before flying into a demonic rage. She sliced the needle in half as she swung at Lady Shiv.

 

Sakuya shot at the shadows, Toya prepared to attack when he felt different.
