So today, during Psychology, we weren't doing much psychology and I had to explain to my internet deficient teacher what trolling and Rick Rollnig was.

I also tried explaining what a meme was. How do you describes what a meme is to someone who doesn't even know any? :/8D:

A very famous/infamous joke using different emotes, phrases, or themes.

That's just how I'd do it though.

Worst is when you're trying to explain a joke that's meme based.
    They start looking at you like you're ******ed man ;~;

That awful moment when you use a meme like "F**k yeah" and get in trouble because the teacher doesn't get it.

I tried to pull the troll face. It was awkward.

I would love to see that. I could never come close to the troll face, though I can get pretty close to me gusta.

    I love being a latino.

A internet meme is viral joke, image or themed phrase. This is what Wikipedia says about them.

Ugh, I hate it when people do that. Lol's and OMG's should stay on the Internet. There's no excuse to abbreviate those irl.

You realize that "meme" is an actual word in psychology and that most people on the internet are ignorant of its actual meaning

and that "trolling" is not just some magickal word the internet made up; in the old days we called it "getting your goat."

Also I say lawl all the time don't hate just 'cause you don't understand contextual intricacy

I realized this, but also realized that explaining the psychological aspect would be useless to her Psychology professor. We needed to define internet memes specifically. They still apply in psychological terms regardless, don't they?

I hate unless you mean it mockingly. A set of letters should not replace laughter. But that is because I like hearing people laugh.

I thought trolling came from a fishing technique ._.

It does. Traditional human trolling, especially internet trolling, refers to fishing for arguments by baiting people.

Are you saying you'd rather "lawl" than laugh.

Her only concept of trolling was the severe, horrible trolls that bully people and I tried to explain what a funny troll was... she wasn't understanding though O.o

I also had no idea "meme" had a psychological meaning xD shows my ignorance.

I actually do use "Lol" or "Lawl' sometimes in real life, but not as a replacement for laughter, that would just be silly, but I say it in a mocking or sarcastic tone.
The French actually do say "Lol" quite often actually. I mean we do have our own "Lol" equivalent here, but we use both while half-mocking things.

That is not a troll. That is a clown.

A troll is someone who intentionally baits others into getting angry. A troll is not someone who directly insults you out of honest dislike, so they are different from other bullies. They bully you just for the sake of making you feel bad. For instance, a troll may present controversial views about sexuality though he or she does not care either way. They may do this for the entertainment of others, making it humorous, but it is still 'bullying' in a sense.

Yes, exactly. I'm going to have to go back and explain all of this to her...

Well, yes, and that's my point. It has an application existing before the time of the internet, one which is nigh-synonymous, so it is not internet ignorance not to know it; just plain ignorance.

Typically I use it as a clear, definite "I get it" expression. It is often followed by, or in the midst of, actual laughing. And yes, I do use it in a mocking or satirical manner as well.

    Or

    "getting your goat"

You totally missed the point. Lawl.
