Xelax wondered what the prosecution is going to do. The Luxord could be tried for was not nearly as numorous or as terrible as what Marluxia and Larxene were accused of.

Edgeworth spoke aloud to himself.

"I bet the defense is wondering what the prosecution is going to do. Being that the crimes Luxord commited are not as henious or as numerous as those commited by Marluxia and Larxene."

Xelax overheard Edgeworth speaking. My goodness... no wonder they call him the Demon Prosecutor.

 

Kairi shrugged. "What I want to know is how come there are so many fangirls for the guys, but there aren't that many fanboys for the girls."

"Considering you're wearing one of the skimpiest outfits known to life, I'd say you and I both count as fan-service than actual characters," Naminé said.

"This from a girl who doesn't even wear a bra," Kairi retorted. "I mean, one quick jerk on that dress of yours and we'd probably be seeing the color of your panties right now."

Naminé raised an eyebrow. "What makes you so sure I'm wearing any?"

At that remark, Kairi backed slowly away. "I'm not going to even answer that. Wear whatever you like. Just don't expect Roxas not to at least cope a feel while he's drunk."

Naminé felt slightly dirty all of a sudden. She wondered if there was at least a locker room or a shower in the courthouse's gym...

Kairi let out a sigh. This should be an extremely open-and-shut case. From what she heard from Sora, all Luxord was guilty of was theft and morphing others into gruesome objects like skeletons and cards. She couldn't remember anything that happened when she had been turned into a card, but Sora had said that there was nothing to worry about. Eyeing the drunk captain, she hoped that his gun wasn't loaded...

 

The Demon Prosecutor was bored. Almost every case he did was from the prosecution side. Only once did he sit in the defense booth... and then there was the other time... a repressed memory wich should stay there.

He wondered if anyone would talk to him. He made the effort to talk to several people, but they seemed to not like his presence, eyeing him with suspition. Edgeworth wasn't normally so self consios... but he felt as though for once he was an insignificant man in the courtroom. Then he wondered is this how Gumshoe always felt?

Charged with:
Attacking the worlds with heartless.
Possession and use of weapons without a license. (What was his weapon again?)
Turning Jack Sparrow into a skeleton.
Attempted murder of Sora with a heartless.
Theft.

I kind of want to clean this up as I wasn't here for all of the charges on these people. So with your permission, I'd like to change the charges to the following:

1. Attacking Port Royal world with Heartless/creating a Heartless that was used to curse Jack Sparrow and theft.
2. Attacking Port Royal with Nobodies.
3. Stealing the Aztec Gold, theft of the Black Pearl.
4. Cursing Jack Sparrow.
5. Coercion: Forcing Sora and others to have to attack the Heartless in order to undo the Curse he had placed on Jack Sparrow.

I want to change these because it is clear that Luxord probably had no intents on killing Sora, the curse was changing him to an undead..not just a skeleton, and possession of weapons without a license is not a realistic feasible charge.

Also, Pika, you can go ahead and do up Jack's testimony now in the formula we need to follow if you would.

Harvey nodded. "I call Captain Jack Sparrow to the stand as our first witness." He might as well start this off he figured.

 

A sudden nagging thought stuck Naminé. Acting on a hunch, she got out of her seat and walked up to Edgeworth. "Um, hi." How was she going to put this? "I'm just wondering why it's so necessary for all of us to be held here after this entire trial's over."

 

Edgeworth eyed the girl suspitiosly. She was with the other girl who gave him the chicken club chalupa... but she seemed to have an agenda. So he wasn't sure if he should be cordial, or himself.

"Court procedures. It saves effort. All the witnesses from this case are going to be supenaed for my case. It was the will of the prosecution office to save time and proccess the two cases back to back."

 

Namine didn't get it. Witnesses being...charged? It finally clicked.

"Wait. Are you saying that you were going to arrest all of us and make us sit through our own trials? Today?" She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "Why?"

 

"If I was, then I wouldn't tell you." he smirked, this girl was persistant. "Although I can tell you, I have no reason to charge you with anything."

 

Naminé blinked. "No reason to charge me with..." Her mind seemed to slow down and speed up at the same time as it dawned on her. The one person who Xelax was trying to deem guilty earlier. "No. You couldn't mean..." She gasped. "Sora?"

At the name "Sora", Kairi whirled around toward Edgeworth and Naminé. She got up out of her seat and stood right next to her Nobody. "What's this about Sora?"

Naminé was still in shock. "The true reason that Edgeworth is here is to prosecute Sora."

Kairi's jaw dropped. "What? He may be a lazy, slow, clumsy, absent-minded, slow-witted, undeniably cute and adorable guy, but why now? Why today? And more importantly, why did no one tell us? Everyone here is under the impression only the Organization was going to be tried. How long ago did the Prosecution's Office come up with the charges? Shouldn't we have gotten at least some advance notice or something?" She was stunned that her boyfriend was going to have to take the stand and be accused again. But this time legally...

 

Edgeworth turned away. "If I talk to you much more, its called tampering with a witness. I would hate for a criminal to get off on a technicality."

 

Jack slowly got to his feet. "What? I need to test to fly? Okay matey!" Jack stumbled down the isle, only stopping briefly to 'trip' and grab Namine's dress to keep balance. He turned aside to give an obvious wink at Roxas, then glanced quickly backwards to view the spoils of his near fall. If only Roxas were awake! Jack thought with glee, Looking away from Namine and continuing his stumble towards the stand.

Reaching his destination, Jack said in a loud hushed voice to Harvey. "Don't worry, I know how to play this game!" He proceded to stand up to speak. "I am cap'n Jack Sparrow, and I deny everything! I am completely innocent. I never saw the man until today. I swear on all that is true and good, I never did it." Taking a breath, seeing the skeptical looks, he yelled in a loud voice "I have witnesses, yes! I can prove it!" He winked at The Birdman. "How'd I do? Will I get off?"

 

Xelax could hardly keep from laughing at the poor fellow. If this was thier star witness... the prosecutions case should be doomed...

Edgeworth knew that the drunken witness could still be effective in court. He remembered when Yani took the stand in the case he wish he could totally forget.

 

"But Mr. Edgeworth..." Namine walked around and stood in front of him, chewing her lip thoughtfully. "You've been on both sides, the prosecution and the defense. You know there's always two sides to every story, but only one truth. So setting aside any evidence you may or may not have..." She turned her piercing blue gaze upward and looked at him in the eyes. "What do you believe the truth is? Do you truly 100% believe in the position you're taking in your case?"

Then she realized Sparrow had just gotten fresh with her, but it was too late for her to retaliate.

"Yes I have been on both sides." Edgeworth flinched on the word truth. "I don't know what the truth is on this case, I can only go by what the evidence tells me. Would you expect me to go by much else?"

 

Naminé felt Kairi's hands on her shoulders. "What's wrong?"

Kairi pursed her lips. "The captain tried to tear off your dress. I was holding onto the straps. However..." She pointed downward.

Naminé saw the fabric of bottom of her dress torn off. She now looked like she was wearing a mini. She sighed with relief. "That could've gone a whole lot worse."

"Don't mention it," Kairi said with a smile.

Naminé turned back to Edgeworth. "What else? How about common sense and maybe your heart? You've seen what happened to Mr. Gavin when he caused your best friend to lose his attorney's badge. Although Mr. Justice's evidence was lacking, common sense and an undying passion to seize the truth revealed what really happened after those seven long years. And we both know that the evidence isn't ALWAYS truthful." She raised an eyebrow as if trying to remind him of the "updated" autopsy report he had used when he first lost against Phoenix...

 

"Evidence is the only way to prove the truth in court." he said fatalistically. His outer appearance was as stern and confident as always. But this little girl was making him start to doubt his moral judgement. Something which he could do.

 

Naminé shook her head. "No, evidence is used to force a point of view to the court. Depending on how you use it can twist the reality into an untruth. A fabrication of what didn't truly transpire. You should know that better than anyone." Engarde and Edgeworth's cases came to mind as she said this. "So let me ask again, are you 100% sure of the position you're taking in this case? What does your heart and common sense tell you?"

 

An armour clad figure stepped up behind Namine. "Quite right, Mr Edgeworth. Evidence is the only proof. As Sora's lawyer, I am entitled to read the documents allowing for Sora's arrest and trial."

Speaking only to Namine, barring everyone else from listening in, he thought "I can attempt to get many of his charges downgraded to be tried in youth court, along with placing many charges under self defence. Then I can argue that for castle Oblivion he was not in his right mind due to changes done by the org. All in all, I would not worry youself too much, okay Amber?"
