I just got through the first season and WOW this show is great.

I've seen quite a lot about it on tumblr (and of course Netflix always puts it in recommended/popular), finally got around to starting it a few days ago and sped through it. The characters are just really great, and as far as I can tell they do well on representation (a trans character played by an actual trans woman!!!!).

There is a lot going on & S2 is said to be more of an ensemble cast, rather than focusing on Piper so much, so that will likely increase, but Downton Abbey is similar & I love it, so I trust the OITNB writers to do well with it.

I am a bit sad to hear that
Alex will be in only four episodes this season, as she is probably my favorite character, but the actress is interested in returning for season three so this should at least give us time to see more of some other characters

    holla @ me if u a faaaaan

I love love love Orange. omg. I watched all of S1 the day it came out, and same with S2. I loved the characters they expanded on this year, and it was nice to see less of the focus on Piper and more on everyone else.

Vee dying was probably the most pleased I've been about a character dying, after a few GoT deaths, but still.
The season finale was great, and I don't know how I'm supposed to live until S3. @_@

Same! Poussey really stole the season imo, it was great to see her developed so interestingly and take on such an enormous role. Lorna also. And Rosa. And basically all of them. My one qualm was that Alex wasn't in the season much, but I guess that comes with taking the focus off of Piper.
Alex will supposedly be in S3 a lot more (and Larry a lot less) so I am happy
I'm rewatching the show now to fill the void that has been left in my life. I tried watching Weeds, which was Jenji Kohan's project pre-OITNB, but it's not really as good. First couple of seasons were entertaining but I'm about it quit it (think I'm in S4).

    Ahhh, I love Rosa!
The way she left was simply amazing, and I'm usually sad to see characters leave a show, but I was cheering the entire finale. I hope there's less Larry next season, though. I mean, I tolerated him in S1 and even shipped Piper and Larry more than Alex and Piper, but they just completely destroyed any ounce of likeness I had towards him in S2.
I also tried to watch Weeds to fill the void, lol. I got tired of it only after a few episodes, so I guess I never really gave it a chance. There's a chance I'll pick it up again before the summer is over and I get super bored, but possibly not. I just couldn't get into it like I did with OITNB.

Rosa was fantastic and I'm so glad she got to die on her own terms like that -- and taking Vee out was a nice bonus of course.

Larry's pretty much always bothered me. In season one he definitely had a necessary presence and I did pity him & empathize with his struggles at times but he was just so self-righteous and self-centered all the time. I loved that "you're the moon" business in S2, it was a bit cheesy but it was on point with what Larry was doing. I don't think he can be written out nor would I want him to be but I would like him to be in it... less. lol

    Season 3 Trailer;

That last little bit with Crazy eyes was a nice final addition :P
In terms of plot, I'm intrigued to see if any of these new inmates pose an antagonistic force. Season 1 had Pornstache as a power abusing officer, while Season 2 had Vee; a deliciously manipulative woman who knew how to work the system.

    I am so hype

First of all, Alex! I knew she'd be returning but I am firmly in the "I love Alex Vause" camp and I am never leaving it. I imagine Ruby Rose will take on a somewhat antagonistic force for at least Piper and Alex, as there's supposedly a love triangle situation going on there. There's also the issue of the drug lord guy -- Alex seemed pretty rough in the trailer. We already know he's after her, whether that will extend to prison remains to be seen but Alex is definitely in some trouble.

Also really happy that Lori Petty will be in this season!

Lastly, it looks like Nicky is getting out (she's shown in street clothes and that's probably why Lorna is crying at the window). I'll be really upset if she leaves the show, even if I can't see a way around it -- I have faith in her to maintain her sobriety and I don't think the show can afford to, for a third time, release a character only to bring them back a few episodes later (Taystee and Alex have both gone around the prison conveyer belt). That said, it's always an opportunity to critique how difficult it is for ex-cons and how so many do end up in prison (which they did with Taystee, but that was more of an economic and racial perspective -- Nicky's I imagine would be based on drugs and addiction).

New trailer that shows at least a bit of new footage.
Taking off from last season, looks like Boo and pennsatucky have a little moment.

I'm a huge fan of this show. The way it can spin from a comedic moment to something dark and intense usually means I have to rewatch the episode, but it's worth it. I think there's gonna be a lot of tense feelings between Piper and Alex, but we shall see.
I also really like that they show the political workings of how the prison system slowly trickles down the funds to the actual jail. It's a unique look into a subject that has been mostly the subject of Discovery ID shows and I can't wait to see where it goes!
