For the one other DCFC fan on this site, and I, too discuss this wonderful piece of music.

    When the wind picked up
    And the fire spread
And the people, strangers left for dead.
And the northern sky, like the end of day,
    The end of days.

A wake up call to a rented room
Sounded like an alarm of impending doom.
To warn us it's only a matter of time.
    Before we all burn
    Before we all burn
    Before we all burn
    Before we all burn

We bought some wine and some papercups
Near your daughter's school when we picked her up
And drove to a cemetery on a hill
    On a hill.

And we watched the plumes paint the sky gray
And she laughed and danced through the field of graves
There I knew it would be alright
    That everything would be alright,
    Would be alright
    Would be alright
    Would be alright.

And the news reports on the radio
    Said it was getting worse
Cause the ocean air fanned the flame.
But I couldn't think of anywhere I would have rather been
To watch it all burn away.
    To burn away.

The firemen worked in double shifts,
With prayers for rain on their lips
And they knew it was only a matter of time.

I personally find that the song itself seems almost apocalyptic and yet subtle enough in it's presentation to suggest that no part of it is literal, and in fact the whole song may be metaphorical as most of their songs are. Would you agree Trigger?

I agree. The song gives off a depressing the-world-is-probably-about-to-die atmosphere, which can also be relaxing. I heart the song like a young boy hearts Chuck E Cheese.

    Angry kangaroo says moo.

    Btw, song makes me think about a middle aged man ripping his hair out because the north korean laundromat won't give him 11% off on something that costs $2.99. ;_;

Now I would like to point out the title of the song itself. I can't tell if perhaps the title derives from the fact they drank wine in the song, or perhaps I heard the song wrong and it's actually "Field of Grapes", however that wouldn't make as much sense as what I heard, "Field of Graves", as the song forementions a cemetery.

I thought it was field of grapes at first, but the gloomy feel of the song, and Ben sings about the sky being gray, 'graves' just sounds and fits better overall.

I would have to agree with you on that, that the title itself can be misleading.
