Now that I'm done playing Final Fantasy XIII-2, I just thought I'd say this.

But you still would have eventually found out that Zelda has good sequels that are actually released, that it was just one bad game, out of many good games. Which is not the case for Final Fantasy. And no, I was saying that Zelda was barely established when the second one came out, though, Sonic is fading more and more from video gaming, so that's alright.

It's not a bad apple, Square switched tree completely. Do you know why people loved Final Fantasy after Final Fantasy? Because they were similar games, while they still managed to keep it fresh due to having a new story and cast betweenst every game. However, Final Fantasy (I) and all the way up to Final Fantasy IX had the same game feel with some minor tweeks here and there. It was after Final Fantasy X came out that they started changing the game feel drastically, until it is now unrecognisable. Why should people not be allowed to forsake a game series when most people haven't liked it since five installments prior? Most people, outside of the Final Fantasy fanboys who grew up with it, think FFX is laughably bad. FFX-2 is the biggest disgrace the series has ever seen, a game completely dedicated to fanservice. Nobody likes FFXI, FFXII was absolutely nothing like any prior Final Fantasy, and most people didn't like it. FFXIII was hated by most, even when people don't consider it as a Final Fantasy game they still think it's bad. And just to mention it, the game didn't sell that well either, it was the first multi-platform Final Fantasy, but it was faaaar from the best selling. FFXIV made Square apologise to everyone, it was that bad.

Square isn't doomed to fail, or have an unpleasable fanbase, they are just horrible at decisions. Though, I guess that kinda does mean that they are doomed to fail, in a couple of years they will most likely be bought out by another company again.

@at renting: What kind of person rents an RPG anyway? You would have to play it non-stop to be able to get it done in time, and that sucks the small amounts of fun to be had out of the game.

    Alright
So yeah, you can forsake a series anytime you feel like it. Doesn't matter and all that.
But these assumptions that "Most people don't like it" is ****ing ******ed
most people I know LOVE Final Fantasy X, I mean what's not to love about it?
Being able to switch party members at anytime
next to Materia the sphere grid is the best ability system ever
Blitzball was hard as **** but rewarding
    Aeons were given more personality
    THIS ****ING SONG!
Final Fantasy X was a great game.

Final Fantasy X-2 get's a lot of bad rep because "lol they get nekkid"

But what people don't realize is that Final Fantasy X-2 had the BEST take on realtime combat in a turnbased game ever.
Everything was calculated in real time and you could even string together combos based on how fast your characters was, it was demanding as the wrong move could **** up absolutely everything. Also dresspheres were awesome the last time character's could change their class on the fly was in Final Fantasy V I believe and that game was awesome.

Of course the rest of the game was **** but to say "A game devoted to fanservice" is stupid. I mean come on? Maybe you're forgetting the character with the mini skirt and the HUGE knockers from Final Fantasy VII?
Final Fantasy XII had everything a previous Final Fantasy game had
    A world map
    an airship
    Chocobos
    A game specific ability system
    mini games
    sidequest
    towns

The only thing that was completely different was that it was real time.
It was still turn based though
Just that you had more freedom in your movements
because this is the 21st century and turn based combat is pretty outdated outside of handhelds as much as you may not want to accept it. Back in the day we were fine with turn based combat because it was all we had. Nowadays there's SO many real time RPG's where you can move around freely and whatnot that something turn based sounds cheap and lazy.
Once again, stop spouting out baseless facts.
last time I checked pretty much every reviewer in the world loved Final Fantasy XII
not to mention all the GOTY awards it got.

But yeah, about Final Fantasy XIII and ****, I agree.

The kind of games that I play are not cross platform, or were not originally.

I suppose you think I should have bought Re: Chain of Memories for the sake of the console, too.

Yeah right, the Snes didn' t any real time A-RPGs like Seiken Densetsu, Star Ocean or Tales Of Phantasia. Turn-based RPG is a genre, feel free to not like it or be done with it, but it' s as "outdated cheap and lazy" as A-RPGs. Saying one is better than the other is like saying sci-fi is better than fantasy.

... Are you trying to say that the SNES is not outdated?
