Zane groaned and gently caressed her, "Doesn't it always."

 

Mya closed her eyes, enjoying his touch. I wish I had the power to stop time.

 

Zane smiled as he kissed her, "It would be nice." He lifted himself up, "If we had a piece of Eden, we could try that."

 

Mya nuzzled his chest. Sometimes, you don't need special powerful objects. All you need is strong emotions.

 

Zane pulled her close, "Mya, I'm not a mind reader. If you have something you want to tell me...you'll have to say it aloud." He planted kissed all over her body.

 

Mya purred softly. Well, the only thing that's on my mind is...I love you. She looked at him with deep eyes.

 

Zane froze, "I...I love you, Mya, and I'm so sorry for it."

 

Mya cocked her head. Sorry? Why are you sorry for loving me?

 

He stroked her face gently, as if he were suddenly afraid he'd hurt her, "Everyone I love ends up dying somehow and it becomes my fault. It was my fault Annabelle died, it was my fault somehow that Garth found our family. It'll become my fault when you die too. it's why I've tried so hard to keep my emotions inside when we were growing up."

 

Mya sighed and rested her face on his chest. I won't die. I'll make sure of t.

 

Zane sighed and pressed her as close to him as he could, "I won't let you die. This time, we're both on the same playing field. I can protect you better than the others." Zane pulled her up to him and kissed her hard, "I love you Mya, and as long as I do, it's your life before mine."

 

Mya kissed him back. I'll keep my word as well. You won't die on me either. We both have each other's backs. That way we can get out of this alive.

 

Zane's body relaxed and he kissed her passionately.

Mya slept quietly. After a long night, Mya was exausted and slept almost instantly.

 

Zane woke at dawn. He inhaled her scent before sitting up.

 

Mya shuffled around a bit and purred softly.

 

Zane leaned down next to her ear and whispered, "Y'know, when you purr it makes me not want to get up at all."

 

Mya smiled and opened one eye. And that's a good thing right?

 

Zane kissed her forhead and smirked, "I suppose so. But not today. Today I have to tell Zee the truth, so I do have to get up."

 

Mya frowned. I see. I suppose you can get up AFTER I'm happy. She wrapped her arms around him tightly as if she didn't want him to leave.
