Allright I'm not quite understanding what you're saying. Are you in the treasure with a stone pillar stopping you from going any farther?

 

Yup.. That's the place...

 

You know those holes in the floor that you've done a nice job avoiding in order to get to the treasure room? Simply jump into one of those and you'll find yourself in a network of caves with water everywhere (I have no idea if this area even has an official name). There are plenty of things you can find down there but the part that is important to the plot is one room with an unstable pillar. Just swim onto the nearby platform and shoot fire at the pillar to break it. Then hunt down one of the two staircases back up and return to the treasure room.

 

It's also a pillar which you can examine.

By crashing the pillar, the room above it allows the block of wood to fall down which allows you to access the next room.

Also, it allows you to access the high up chests, by using the little machines which are now activated.
