Video Need Help with Sony Vegas?

Ok, I have one question: I got Vegas a few months ago, but ever since then I've noticed that certain video files have unknown streaming properties for Vegas. I was wondering if anyone knew why's that and how to make those videos actually show once uploaded in Vegas, since all that it can upload is the audio part and not the video.

Also, this happens with AVI files which are way too common, leaving me with a limited amount of clips to work with sometimes. So, any help is apreciated

 

Vegas has a problem with AVI files, it only plays the audio when imported. I don't know how to fix this, but in situations like that, I import the clips into Windows Movie Maker and render them again as a WMV -- It cuts down the size AND works in Vegas perfectly. Hope that helps =). If you're using a Mac, you could do the same with Final Cut or iMovie, I imagine. Maybe not render to WMV, but into a file format that works for Vegas.

@Ienzo - Vegas comes as low as $70-$90, depending on the edition you get. There's a list of editors on Wikipedia that's easy to find (just look it up on Google), but if you need the link you can PM me or something and I'll post it/send it to you.

Anyway, I have another question that's been bugging me for a while: which rendering options should I use to get the best quality out of the video in Vegas? I tried Avi a few times, but the size of the vid ends up being way too big (over 500 MB), and the others I've tried darken the video and lower it's original quality, like this



I know it's not exactly the same frame, but you can still tell the difference, even if it's slight. But with dark scenes, even that slight difference can screw things up.

Just noting that there are three types of each Vegas. << Vegas, Vegas Movie Studio, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum. If you find that yours doesn't have Masking, it's most likely because you have Vegas Movie Studio or Platinum. I believe "Vegas" is the only type that has this feature. Which is kind of lame, since it's more than double the price of the other ones.

And no, the trial of Vegas will have Masking.... I think. I'm using the Vegas Pro 8 trial now and it has it. (I'm guessing Vegas Pro is the new name for Vegas)

 

It's basically easier just to buy Sony Vegas. The best way is through your local computer store or the Internet.

As for downloading a full version of the program, well, we're not allowed to tell you.

That version is about $600... You can get version 7 on eBay for about $280, though.

It costs anywhere from $90 to $550, depending on what version you get and where you buy it. Amazon and eBay have some pretty big discounts on it, it seems.

Alright... in Vega.. on my timeline my clips/timing is perfect but when I make a mpeg movie out of it.. a certain clip stretches on longer than it should and throws everything else off. I go back to edit it.. and on the timeline the clips ends perfect.. even when I preview it in sony vegas the timing is perfect.. so whats going on here?! >_<;;

im trying to import advent children scenes into vegas but i really dont wanna spend hours downloading cutscenes when i own the DVD of it.

Because using a keygen to access an unpurchased copy of Vegas is illegal. And sometimes dangerous, as keygen downloads can have viruses, trojans, etc riding on them.
