Too many people. I'll just leave it at that. The big names you should know though are Moses, Paul and the 4 guys who wrote each of the books of the Gospel.

Hundreds of thousands of people. The Pentateuch was written by four sects of Judaism, the Deuterist, the Yahwist, the Priestly, and one other that I forget. There's also the followers of the Beloved Disciple (usually theorized to be the Apostle John) who collectively wrote the book of John. A different John wrote Revelations and a physician who may or may not have been named Luke wrote the Gospel according to Luke. Matthew may or may not have been written by Matthew, but is attributed to him until it is proven otherwise. We are very sure that Mark wrote mark, but it is still being debated nonetheless. The Infancy Narratives can be attributed to Q, which I typically call the "Deep Throat" of the Christian Scriptures. Most of the Epistles are attributed to Paul, though several of them probably weren't written by him. The ones that aren't attributed to him were supposedly written by John the Apostle. The historical books of the Hebrew Scriptures like Kings and Chronicles were written by various ancient Jewish historians and can more or less be used as a source of Historical fact. The books of the prophets are assumed to be written by disciples of those prophets who were given permission to write under that name. The books of wisdom such as Wisdom (duh) and Proverbs were written by various unnamed philosophers and as a whole are attributed to Solomon.

    That's who wrote the Bible.

A lot of the authors are listed as "UNknown" and many are stated witin the books themselves. The gospels are by Matthew, John, Luke, and Mark. A lot of the letters in the New Testement are written by a man named Paul and Revelations is written by someone named John, and many people infer it's the same John who wrote one of the Gospels, but IDK.

For the record, John was most likely written by hundreds of people who were the disciples of a person that is assumed to be John. The identity of the Beloved Disciple is never disclosed.

Also keep in mind that the Gospels were actually written 40-50 years after the fact. Most of the letters were written long before the Gospels. Also, according to Catholic canon, Revelations was written by someone named John, but not the same John as the John who is assumed to be the Beloved Disciple.

We believe that God did inspire people to write it. I don't believe for a second that God took a chisel, reached out from the Heavens, and carved the 612 Commandments into stone.

If you ask a Christian, he will answer that God wrote it.

    I tried it.

I'm a Christian. The bible's written by people who were inspired by God.

Which is why I said people infered that the two Johns were the same. To me, there's no evidence that they were the same person. That's just what you get for sharing the same name.

I'm glad we're in agreement then. However, do you also agree with what I said about the Gospel of John not actually having been written by John?

I don't know much about John or have read through it (besides 3:16), so I can't nessesaraly say I agree or not. I have heard that the Gospels were written years after Jesus, but I still don't know much about them.

Now why would God write from a human perspective when He has so many humans that could do it more accurately?

@Tummer: Well think of it this way. John was probably dead before the Gospel of John was written..

Lol yeah, it's much better to have biased humans write it than the impartial god, sure bud.

    Oh my apologies.

What I meant was that when you ask a crazy African American taxidriver who couldn't stop talking about Armageddon and tah Almighty Lawd while driving you to NYC, you get that answer.

But god is in all of us, shouldn't he know best what it is to be human really? Humans are narrow-minded and only see things from their side you know~
