No, it's not. See this is what I was getting at. First off, that number never symbolized the devil, and second, it's the wrong freakin' number. Depending on your source it's either 666 or 616.

The number 666 or 616 are both from the Book of Revalations, the final book in the bible that talks about the End of Days and the 1000 Years of Peace. The Beast of the Sea, also known as the Antichrist, will rise through politics during this time and become the ruler of the world. Halfway through a seven year treaty, he will be killed and rise again, but he will be indwelled by Satan himself. Through this, he will require all those alive to take a Mark of the Beast, a Mark claiming loyalty to the beast as their king and their god. Of course, those who take this mark will not be saved from the lake of fire at the end of these seven years. The Mark is required for anyone to buy or sell any goods. The Antichrist's own number will be 666 (or 616).

The reason why most people go with 666 instead of 616 is because the trinity of 6's is the Devil's mimik of God's trinity. The Holy number in Christianity is 7, which is why it is seen as a lucky number. 777 stands for God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 6 is seen as the Devil's number (but I don't remeber why) and is the Trinity of Evil. 666 stand for The Devil, The Antichrist, and The False Prophet who is also mentioned in Revalations as the Beast of the Sea.

As interpreted by me, these are the meanings behind those numbers and one other symbol.

7: The number of days in the JudeoChristoMuslim Creation Myth. Seen as a perfect number because it is prime and was supposedly given to us by God.
6: The number of days that managed to tire out God. It is seen as an evil number because of that.
1: The number of days that God rested. Simple as that.
616: The number of days that managed to tire out God, the number of days that God rested, and the number of days that managed to tire out God. The Devil's number because according to certain Pagan myths that were adopted into Catholic doctrine, Satan hopes that one day God will slip up and forget to rest on the seventh day.
777: Three full weeks, Sabbath included. Three sevens not only because of the Trinity, but also to contrast 616 and say that God will never slip up.
666: Used by the Beast to mock God's 777 trinity.
3 (as in the number of digits): I honestly don't know. All I can think of is the Holy Trinity, but the trinity motif has been around for much longer than that. Perhaps it was symbolic for infinity or eternity?
The Beast: Nero. At the time Revelations was written, Christians were being persecuted by the worst sane(ish) Roman Emperor OF ALL TIME. [insert Kanye here] The Beast is a form of satire against Nero and his persecution of Christians.

Remember that the Bible is NE'ER to be taken at face value. There are always things that happened in the times the books were written that hint on the true meaning. Take the Beast for example, which I explained. Another example would be Jesus walking on water. I theorize that He swam, the miracle being that He was able to swim in such "angry" waters.
