I've read Roger Ebert's review on that movie some time ago and decided to give it a pass. But I will give that movie a try if I ever get a chance to watch it non-Netflix.

As a lover of dystopias, it is right up my alley. But suit yourself.

Roger Ebert is sometimes known to have a change of heart when it comes to his reviews. Look at The Passenger, Groundhog Day and AI. I will give Brazil a try eventually, but not right away.

Also I just realized that this thread's title should be "My Netflix DVD Activity," just to be correct.

Ah well. I loved it the first time I watched it. It is not an objective favorite, but a personal one.

Of course I form my own personal opinions on the films I see, but what I watch is based on reviews and recommendations. And because you insist that Brazil is such a good movie, I have added it to my Netflix queue, at position #2, behind Badlands. Just to make sure I'm not missing out.

I take recommendations from people that I trust, based on the kinds of movies that they like. Reviewing them has less value to me unless you hope to analyze some detail from it.

First of all, Heathers. <3 I guess not for everyone, but as Makaze, dark humor--at its best, imo. If you like dark comedy you might also enjoy Wristcutters: A Love Story (though it seems a bit more... uplifting than the ones I recognize on your list).

Also, you've probably already seen it, but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of those movies everyone must experience at least once.

I talked about Wristcutters and Eternal in a different thread. I posted a link to it in a previous post.

Ah okay, missed that. =] Have you seen The Science of Sleep? Same filmmaker (iirc) as Eternal Sunshine, so it has the same odd quality to it, but it's amazing. I bawl during it. I'm not sure how you feel about foreign language films, it's mixed between French, English, and Spanish--mostly French and English though.

Yes I have seen The Science of Sleep, I did make connections with Eternal Sunshine when watching it but I had no idea it was by the same filmmaker until now. But I think the star behind Eternal is its writer, Charlie Kaufman.

I have no problem with foreign language films.
