    Well I heard of the Socialist guy. xD

    Actually, it isn't. The third-party politicians can persuade other politicians to pass bills in their favor by basically saying that the people that support the third-party politicians will vote for the politicians passing the bills. So they do have a purpose and it's not the best use of a vote, but it's not useless.
