" Well, she's technically not dead." Eden said.

 

"Thats just a Dark Nobody telling her lies.... My moms never gonna come back..."Riku said with a small frown.

 

" Your mother's Dark Nobody is alive and healthy, right?" Eden actually looked straight at Riku this time.

 

"Even if Xirane is moms Dark Nobody....she's not the real thing....."Riku frowned. "Noone is.... Except her..."he said. Suddenly the feather charm started to glow with a white aura.

Valerie started growling. "Someones in this room besides us."she whispered, growling.

 

Eden looked at the feather charm. "If the dark nobody is alive, then your mom should be alive as well if we retrieve her heart."

 

"You don't get it.... Once a heart stops beating it never starts again..."Riku said. "But theres always another way to see me."a voice said. Riku looked around and gasped. Standing there was a woman that looked like Xirane only older, probably in her mid-30s. Unfortunately Riku was the only one who could see her. Riku was speechless.

"Surprised, sweety? I guess your powers have finnaly fully awakened.... I wonder what could've triggered that...." The woman took out a necklace with a blue charm and put it on Eden so she could see the woman as well. "A-am I seeing things?"Riku rubbed his eyes a bit. "No you're not...."The woman smiled.

Valerie and Sora couldn't see the woman so they had no clue what was going on.

 

" AH!!!!" DAMN! That girl can scream high! O.o Anyway... Moving on. "I see dead people!"

 

Valerie and Sora were shocked. "Eden!" "Theres noone there!"Sora said. "Wha- Ho come they can't see you?"Riku asked. "See, only few people can see me. I put that charm on Eden so she could be able to se me a well. The people who can see me are mainly people like Psychics and Mediums... But there are rare people who can also see me.People who are part angel."

"Part angel?"Riku asked. "Like you."Rikus mom, Raine, said. "M-me? You mean an angel as in wings and halos?"Riku ased. Raine laughed. "You got the part with the wings right. But you also have healing powers. and other powers you'll learn as you gain experience. You were born with your ice powers, but your angel powers develop over time and then awaken. When you have enough experience you can make a charm like the one I put on Eden so that Sora and the others can see me as well."Raine said.

"How do you know about-" "I've been watching over you, sweety. You see, being part angel means you have connections with the afterlife. Which is why you can see me."Raine said. "And most of the time people who are part angel inherit it from their parents."she added. "You inherited it from your father....Sorta.... You're different than what he was...."she said. "Wait.... does that mean..."Riku trailed off. "You're baby's gonna be part angel as well."Raine smiled.

Riku placed hand on his stomach, smiling a bit. "Of course, they don't actually inherit the powers until they're about 5 months developed... But while they do get the powers the mother starts to feel pretty ill for a few days. So if you start feeling like you have the flu I suggest you take it easy for a few days. It usually lasts about a week."Raine said. "I will mom...."Riku said. "Take care sweety...."Raine suddenly faded into the air, the atmosphere returning to normal.

"What the heck was that all about?!"Valerie asked. "You okay, Ri?"Sora asked. "Yeah..."Riku smiled.

Eden looked at Riku, then the space of air Riane took up. She opened up her case, took off the necklace, and carefully place it in. "Well, I'll be remembering that for a while..." She zipped up the case, "Pretty soon, it's gonna be filled."

 

Riku smiled, not realizing that tears were streaming down his face. "R-Ri...Whats wrong? You're crying."Sora said. "Huh? Oh, I-I'm fine."Riku wiped off his eyes. "You sure?"Valerie asked. Riku nodded.

 

Eden quickly went in her room, shaking like a leaf.

 

Riku went into his bedroom. "Ri...."Sora frowned. "I wonder what happened."Valerie said.

 

Eden sat in the corner somewhat scared. She took out the feather charm to realize something. "Maybe... Maybe I can see her?"

 

Riku was lying down in his bed, trying not to cry. It was a rare sight. Calm, secure Riku-Who always seems to have to calm Sora's emotional roller coaster- Crying his eyes out. He looked at a small picture from his backpack. It was a picture of him and his mom before she died. He may have been just a little kid then, but he still remembered every second.

The little 8 year old was looking at his mother who was lying down on the couch. "Pwease mommy, you need to see a doctow...."Riku said. "I'll be fine, sweety. I just need lots of rest. I got all the doctering I need from you."Raine kissed Rikus cheek. "Mommy...." "Its late sweety.... Get some rest."Raine said. "I'll even make you some blueberry pancakes in the morning."she said. "Okay mommy. I'll go to bed...."Riku headed off to bed.

The next morning Riku woke up to see the door was still shut. He opened it to hear nothing. No sound of breakfast cooking. No smell of breakfast from the kitchen. He went into the living room to see his mother lying on the couch, motionless with her eyes closed.. "Mommy, wake up!"Riku shook his mother to try and wake her up. But she didn't even stir. Thats when Riku realized his mother wasn't breathing. "M-mommy?"he whimpered.

He shook his mother hard, trying to wake her up. "Mommy, wake up! Pwease wake up, Mommy...."The little 8 year old was on the vurge of tears. He called the hospital. "Hello, is something wrong?" "M-my mommy won wake up. She was weawwy sih wast nigh and now she won wake up!" "Okay, sweety. We'll send paremedics over there right away."The woman on the phone said.

It wasn't long before Riku was waiting in the hospital, hoping his mom would be okay. "Um, sweety...."The doctor came up to him. "Is mommy awight?"Riku asked. "I'm sorry.... Her body couldn't fight off the disease she had.... She didn't make it."The doctor said, only to receive a confused look from Riku. "Your mommy.... didn't pull through sweety. Sorry..."He said, patting Rikus head.

"Mommys.... gone?"Riku started crying. "N-no! Mommy saihd she wouw be fine! She can't be gone!"he said, crying. "I'm sorry, sweety. But listen. Your moms in a better place.... And she'll be watching over you..."the doctor said. "You better tell your dad about this...."he said. Silence.... "My daddy weft wen I was a baby...."Riku said, frowning. "Oh.... I'm so sorry. We have plenty of orphanages around here if you want to-" "N-no...."Riku said, lookin at the doctor.

"I can tahe cawe of mysewf."Riku said. "I'm sure you can, sweety. But-" "I don't want any weplacement mommy and daddy!"Riku said, tears still streaming down his face. "Okay...."The doctor said. "I can't talk you out of it...."he sighed. "You're a very responsible young man."he smiled. Riku smiled. "Thats wha mommy saihd!"he said, throwing his fists into the air excited.

The funeral for Rikus mom came soon after the event. Riku was at his mohers grave, crying until long after the funeral was over. He almost fell asleep on the grave when he heard a voice. "Wiku?"He opened his eye to see Sora. "I'm sowwy abouh youw mommy."Sora said, holding out his hand to Riku. "Wanna stay ah my house fow a few days?"he asked, smiling gently.

Riku smiled, taking Sora's hand. "Suwe.... tanks, Sowa..."he said.

Riku put the picture back and just covered his face with a pillow, crying. It was all my fault.... I should've convinced her to go to the hospital... Maybe then she could've still been alive....

Eden started to realize something.
I stayed with you whenever I could... I held your hand.... I was just a kid, I didn't know much about cancer... But now... Do I carry it? Will I die from it? Am I a target?
Her eyes started to water at the thoughts of her deceased grandmother. " You probably attending to the funeral. I cried and heard the angels bowl... Far from near her."

 

Sora went into Riku's bedroom. "Riku...."He hugged Riku tight. "Its okay, Ri.... I know you miss her alot..."he whispered. "I just.... It hurts to know I couldn't do anything....."Riku said, wiping the tears from his eyes. "C'mon, baby. You did everything that you could...."Sora whispered. "You're right...."Riku realized something and pulled away from Sora. "Baby?"he asked, looking at Sora. "Oops.... Heh, must've slipped out."Sora said nervously.

 

Eden put the charm necklace around her neck, hoping to see her grandmother again. She went into Riku's room, then noticed Sora. "Did I interrupt anything?"

 

"I was just cheering Riku up."Sora said, drying off Rikus eyes. "Y-yeah..."Riku said.

 

Eden was now nervous. " Gomen..."

 

"Its okay...."Sora left the bedroom and shut the door. "Sora, don't you dare lock us in here!"Riku said.
