Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix Translation Patch (In progress)

A few posts up I shared what has been made thus far;

the start menu (Abilities, Config, Journal, etc), a few of the gummi blocks, and the Shadow heartless and Ansem journal names (not their entries, just the name listed ON the entry). I really want to have the abilities and items translated; the Journal and cutscenes aren't as important but without having a guide to follow or knowledge of Japanese it's hard to know what Sora and crew can actually do.

I don't think you quite understand how time consuming translating by hex editor is. First you have to find the text that you want to translate, then you have to transcribe it so that you can more easily find the hex values for each letter/character of what you're translating. Then you have to FIND the entry in the ISO of what you want to translate; if it's compressed you won't find it with a hex editor alone (I believe at least). Then you have to make the the replacement data which has to be the same length of what you're replacing so you don't ruin the iso or any of the data you don't want to modify.

As I said I am trying to find the items and abilities but I haven't been able to so far. Please be patient.

Kingdom Heart II Final Mix + are some compression (example "Item are editable, but magic not able to editable etc but with help of Xeeynamo all are editable and are easy to edit, but you have to Learn about Ponter, header, etc"

Has anyone tried approaching Xeeynamo with this question? I'm sure he's not willing to go back and do this for another game, but he might tell you.

With regards to his tools, I recently found out through his Twitter account that he has since lost/deleted them.

As for how he got the English text font, I haven't tried contacting him myself.

 

I just have to say great work so far on the patch, KHFM was always my favorite game and it will be alot easier to get the items once everythings done.

I need to try to find how to edit the items and abilities. That's all I REALLY wanted to make into English in the first place. I'll do what I can.

 

Any thing done yet? Can u translate the command menu ?

 

I have tried looking through the ISO itself but I can't find anything that would match the text entries. Something else clearly must be used in order to get a more complete translation.
