Namine saw Kairi start to walk over in that direction, and she followed her friend's lead. The sooner the boys got things resolved, the better things would be for all of them.

Sora held Roxas' gaze, silence between them. The air was thick with tension, but the brunette had no idea how to get rid of that. Things were so serious between them...how could they possibly be resolved easily? He knew then that this conversation was not going to be an easy one. Whether things ended well or not, this discussion was probably going to be pretty awkward and tense.

 

As Kairi walked, she glanced over her shoulder, seeing Namine only a step or two behind her. The redhead also looked back at the boys, who were looking at each other now. Turning her head forward again, she hoped that they could resolve the issue. She wanted things to be the same again, now that all their troubles were over...well, all but one.

Roxas blinked once, but his gaze didn't shift from Sora's, who only stood a few feet from him. As awkward as this was going to be, he knew that he had to do it. It was the only way to make things right again, and he knew that if he and Sora didn't settle this, they weren't only going to affect their relationship with each other, but also affect the relationship between the girls. Roxas wasn't only going to do this for himself; he was going to do it for his friends, all three of them.

 

Namine took one last look back, seeing the two boys standing in silence. She exhaled silently, turning her gaze forward. It all depended on them now. Could they resolve things? The fate of all of them rested in the settlement that had to result from this.

Sora awkwardly ran a hand over the back of his head one time, his gaze dropping to the ground before going back up to Roxas. Knowing that he couldn't focus on awkwardness, Sora let his hand fall back to his side. The brunette always had a hand behind his head whenever he felt nervous or uncertain, and he knew he had to focus on the problem instead of the awkwardness that came with it.

 

Kairi looked ahead of her, her eyes on the lake as she walked that direction. She had noticed Namine looking at a bench over that way, and so that was where she headed, leaving the boys behind to handle their business.

Roxas let his eyes shift down and to the side slightly, looking down at the grass just off the path. He brought his right hand up, using a few fingers to scratch at the side of his blond head of hair. "So...uh..." he started slowly, awkwardness in the situation and a little in his voice. "...I guess we had no choice, huh?" he said, letting his hand come back down to his side and flitting his eyes up to Sora. Roxas started the conversation that way, thinking that maybe it'd be best to try and break the ice. Then maybe it would be a little easier.

 

"I guess not," Sora responded, awkwardness in his voice as well. Things did need to be resolved, unless neither of them wanted things to be alright. "We could just walk away, I suppose," Sora thought aloud. "Since the girls aren't here anymore." Though they were a short distance away, Sora knew that he and Roxas couldn't be forced to stay no matter what the circumstances were now. As long as they had a little bit of space, they could do whatever they pleased. But did he want to walk away? He didn't think he did...

 

Roxas furrowed his brows slightly at Sora's words, lowering his head a little as his gaze shifted downward. He was hoping the tension between them would cease, but it seemed to only increase with the words that had been spoken. Would that be an easier way--to just leave? It would seem that way...but then again, it would be harder too, in the long run. Roxas wasn't really planning on doing this today, but he didn't think that running away from it would be that good of a decision either.

 

"But, uh, I don't think that would be a good idea either," Sora continued without thought, his eyes lowering to the ground for a few moments. His friendship with Roxas meant so much to him, and that was why he wouldn't let himself walk away from this. And he wouldn't let Roxas walk away either; if his friend tried to leave, Sora would just put him in a headlock and keep him there. They needed to settle things.

 

"Mm," Roxas hummed in response, agreeing with that statement. If they did just walk away from it, the consequences wouldn't be that great. One, the girls would be all over them for it, and be upset with them. Roxas didn't want that... And two, life would be harder without Sora, without his brotherly figure to joke and kid around with in ways different than what he did with Namine. Even if he did walk away from this, he had a feeling he wouldn't get away with it...whether it was one of the girls or Sora forcing him to stay.

 

Sora didn't know what Roxas' hum meant. Did the blond agree that they should solve things? Or was he disagreeing? Sora felt too awkward asking, so he stayed silent, his gaze falling to the sidewalk beneath his feet. He shifted uncomfortably, bringing up and running a hand through his hair before letting the hand fall back to his side.

 

Roxas lifted his gaze to the boy in front of him, bringing a hand to the back of his blond hair. "...I'm not too sure Namine would be very happy with me if I left," he admitted, a nervous smile tugging at the corners of his lips. That was true, because she probably wouldn't be. She loved him, and he loved her just as much, but there was a reason why she and Kairi set this up...

 

Sora chuckled softly at Roxas' statement, shaking his head slightly. No, Namine definitly wouldn't be happy if Roxas would leave. Underneath her soft outer appearance, there was a very determined, faithful girl. When she set her mind to something, she went through with it. Kairi was the same way. "Kairi wouldn't let me live it down if I left," Sora confessed, a faint smile tugging at his lips as he lifted his gaze to Roxas.

 

Roxas felt his smile grow slightly as a short chuckle left him, the few soft laughs then disappearing before he spoke. "I guess that's one thing they have in common," he thought aloud, running his hand over the back of his head before letting it fall to his side again.

 

"Well, they have much more in common than that," Sora spoke only a beat after Roxas, feeling more at ease now that they were talking about something that didn't directly involve their problem. Both girls were passionate, determined, caring...the list went on and on. Kairi and Namine were both great girls, and Sora realized just how lucky he was to have Kairi as a girlfriend and Namine as a friend.

 

Roxas nodded once. "Yeah..." he said softly, turning his head to look in the direction the girls traveled, his blue eyes finding them on a bench nearby. "You're right." What Sora said was true: Kairi and Namine were alike in a lot of ways. They both cared greatly for the ones they loved, whether as friends or lovers. But they both held great faith inside them, as well as determination and courage. But there was one other way that they were alike as well...

 

Sora nodded faintly, his eyes wandering over in the direction Roxas' had. The two girls were sitting together on a bench, probably trying to listen in on the conversation. But because he could really just see their back sides, he couldn't tell by facial expressions if they were listening or not.

 

"But you know, I think there is one thing that really makes them alike in my eyes," Roxas added softly, his blue eyes on both the girls. He had his eyes on Kairi's red hair for a moment before he let them fall on the blonde beside her, only the back of Namine's form visible to him.

 

Sora turned his head back toward Roxas when he heard the soft spoken words. The brunette didn't know exactly what Roxas was referring to, but to keep the conversation going, Sora decided to humor him. And besides, he was curious as to what Roxas was talking about. "What's that?" he asked, a sense of curiousity coming through his voice.

 

Roxas felt the corners of his lips turn up into a small smile. He kept his eyes on Namine for a moment before he turned his head, his eyes landing on the ones identical to his own. "They love us," he answered, believing his words greatly. Roxas knew that he was blessed to have Namine in his life, and it seemed as if Sora felt the same whenever he was with Kairi.

 

"Mmm," Sora hummed, nodding his head once in agreement. Namine and Roxas were inseperable, as were he and Kairi. The love they held for each other was so great in the relationship he had with Kairi, and he was sure things were the same way with Roxas and Namine. After all, Roxas never did let go of what was valuable to him. And seeing how he looked at Namine, Sora understood how he felt about the blonde girl. After all, Sora felt the same passion towards Kairi.

 

Roxas's smile remained on his face as he looked at Sora for a second and then turned his head, his eyes finding Namine again. They weren't that far away, and if they were in hearing range, he was sure they heard that. It was true that Roxas and Sora were getting off topic with what was really important here, but for the moment, he was okay with that; it eased the tension between the two, even if it was a little bit.
