Sora kept his eyes down for a few moments before he looked back up at Kairi, that weak smile still on his lips. He had to admit, he was pretty uncomfortable in this position. His headache was getting worse, and he could feel himself starting to sweat again. Still, he would put up with all that for the sake of this moment.

 

Kairi lifted her gaze from their hands to Sora's eyes when she felt his orbs against her form. She offered a small smile when she took in his features. "You don't look so good, baby," she said softly, her voice quiet in the dim room. "You should probably relax for a bit." She had subconciously squeezed his hand while she spoke, and her eyes stayed connected with his while her words hung in the air.

 

Sora blinked one time, surprised at Kairi's comment. Did he really look that bad? He knew he didn't feel good at all, and obviously Kairi had seen that. "I'm that easy to read, aren't I?" Sora mused softly, his weak smile on his lips as he held Kairi's gaze.

 

Kairi's smile grew slightly at Sora's words. "We're closer than you think," she replied softly. She then motioned toward Sora's heart, silently referring to the fact that his heart gave away the words that he couldn't speak involving his sickness. In a peaceful moment like this, Sora's heart was open and revealing emotions that she could feel herself.

 

Sora looked down at Kairi's gentle motion, noticing that she was pointing to his heart. Oh, right, he thought, at that moment remembering how their hearts were connected. Actually, he wasn't sure for a while if they could still connect using their hearts, since they were so seperated. But the fact that Kairi could sense that proved to him that they were going to make it through this. This realization made his smile grow a tiny bit, the teen ignoring his throbbing head.

 

Kairi looked at Sora's chest for a second when he did before she let her eyes move back up to his face. Her smile softened somewhat, though it was still on her lips. It was only recently that she started to feel Sora's heart from her own, the feelings and emotions coming in small fragments...hazy until they were finally clear to her. That was when Kairi knew that they were connected again, together.

 

Sora did feel some emotions in his heart, one of them being comfort. He wasn't sure if it was his own emotion or Kairi's but either way, it wasn't a bad thing. However, he had a feeling it was a shared emotion. They were connecting again, and he was so glad for that.

 

A pang of warmth impacted Kairi's heart gently, a feeling she recognized as comfort being spoken even louder and clearer to her at that moment. She had been feeling the emotion before, but now it was a little stronger, and she could only guess that it was Sora's heart feeling the same thing.

 

Sora gently squeezed Kairi's hand, his smile softening as the moment started to come to an end. He hoped the peace between them didn't end with the moment. After all, this moment was coming to an end because of his sickness. He just hoped that things would be alright even after this. But deep in his heart, he knew things would be all right.

 

Kairi blinked once softly at Sora's gesture, the girl tightening her hold on his hand slightly afterward. This peace was very needed, and she was glad to be experiencing it. Hopefully it wouldn't end. But with the knowledge that her and Sora's hearts were connected again-- that they were connected--Kairi knew that peace wouldn't vanish completely.

 

Sora let his grip around Kairi's hand loosen slightly, his eyes wandering down to their hands before they went back up to Kairi's eyes. Even though he was sure she knew it, he wanted to say it anyway, and the words left him before he even thought about it. "I love you."

 

Kairi's soft smile grew slightly. "I love you too," she responded quietly. She loved him more than she could ever really express, but as long as they had forever and a day...their love could grow even more and she could express it the best she could. Sora mattered to her, and she never wanted to let him go.

 

Sora's faint smile grew slightly, the teen trying his hardest to ignore the one bead of sweat that was running down the side of his face. He really wished that he didn't have to suffer from this sickness, but no matter what he thought, it was what was happening.

 

Without thought or hesitation, Kairi leaned forward and turned her head slightly as she placed a light kiss on Sora's cheek. She pulled back then, but had herself a little closer to Sora than before she made the gesture. It was just a small gesture her heart told her to do, and she obeyed faithfully.

 

Sora looked up more when Kairi kissed his forehead, and then once she backed away, his eyes wandered to her face again. His ocean-blue orbs connected with hers, and he allowed himself to stare into her eyes.

 

Kairi's eyes connected with Sora's and she couldn't help but smile. The expression he held in his eyes caused that to come out of her.

 

Sora blinked one time, feeling that bead of sweat slowly trickle down his face. Gosh, that was really annoying. It was distracting him, and that was the last thing he wanted at that moment.

 

As Kairi gazed into Sora's eyes, she noticed a glint of something else within their blue depths. She didn't know what it was, but she hoped it wasn't serious. She didn't really want the moment to be interrupted, but then again, if it involved Sora's health or well-being, it didn't matter; he was important to Kairi, and she wanted to be sure he was okay.

 

Sora silently released a breath, his eyes flickering shut when he blinked. When he reopened his eyes, his gaze started at the floor without him realizing it. After a brief moment, he let his eyes wander upward again, to Kairi's eyes.

 

Kairi tilted her head to the side slightly when Sora's eyes met hers again. "Do you want to rest for a little while?" she asked softly. She was starting to become concerned, more so than she already was.
