Sora did notice a sense of peace in Kairi's eyes, as well as a little bit of comfort. He supposed that the fact that he was still holding her gaze was what was causing that emotion to appear in her eyes. And though he was only looking up at her, he was glad he was having a positive impact on her. There had been too much pain lately, and this moment was oddly peaceful.

 

Kairi let her thumb stroke Sora's forehead once more, the gesture kind and gentle, matching her nature. What had happened last night, it was very unlike her. But this moment, right now, it was who she was; she felt like herself for the fraction of the day, even if it could be just temporarily. Regardless, she wanted to keep that feeling for as long as she could. And while looking at Sora now, she felt it would last longer than it would have if she wasn't with him.

 

Sora started to wonder what made this moment so special, but then he pushed away the thought. That didn't matter; not as long as they were having this moment. He was grateful for every bit of peace he recieved, and in this case, it was a gift from Kairi. Did she know that she was helping him feel more calm?

 

Kairi realized something now; she was a better person whenever she was with this boy in front of her. He was a part of what made Kairi who she was, a huge part. Sora had such a big role in Kairi's life, and in her heart. Without noticing it, the redhead's lips turned up ever so slightly at her realization, her thumb still stroking Sora's forehead as she looked down at him.

 

Sora noticed Kairi's lips forming a smile, and this in turn made one start to appear on his face as well. He didn't know what she was thinking, but anything that made her smile was a good thing.

 

Kairi blinked once but her violet-blue hues met the ocean-blue that belonged to the boy whose head was still against her lap. She noticed his lips turned up a little, like hers, and that made her heart grow warm. Whenever Sora smiled, even if it was the smallest smile, Kairi's heart felt a little lighter...a slight pang of warmth invading it.

 

Sora inhaled silently before releasing it, the soft smile still on his lips. He did feel closer to Kairi in this situation, and he was so grateful for the moment of peace. Even if things weren't completely right, with his sickness and all that, things were calm enough that he could tune that stuff out and focus on what was really important.

 

Kairi moved her hand from Sora's forehead, and instead pushed some of his hair back, away from his face. Her eyes followed the movement, her faint smile remaining on her lips. True, things weren't all right, but the peaceful moment alone made her smile.

 

Some of Sora's bangs came down toward his eyes again, but since they didn't block his view of Kairi, he let them be. He held her gaze, his ocean-blue orbs connected to her violet-blues. Her eyes had been one reason that he had fallen in love with her. That and her kind-hearted, sincere, loving spirit.

 

Kairi let her hand travel through Sora's spikes a little before she brought her hand back to where it rested before, the girl brushing away the spikes that had fallen in front of Sora's eyes when she had moved her hand. Her fingers lightly brushed them away, the girl no longer following her movement and instead focusing her eyes on Sora's, which were already looking at her.

 

Sora noticed that Kairi held his gaze, and gentleness was pouring out of their blue depths. Sora exhaled silently, the breath being one of comfort. Kairi's presence was so comforting, no matter what the circumstances were. He loved her so much; her presence always had a positive impact on him.

 

Kairi brushed Sora's bangs back so she could clearly see his face, letting her hand rest against his spikes lightly. Her eyes were glued to his, and she could see a sense of peace and comfort in their cobalt blue depths. Even if his head was still hot, he was feeling good in some kind of way.

 

Sora blinked one time before returning his eyes to Kairi. She did look beautiful; the expression on her face was calm and peaceful--two emotions Sora was relieved to see. Surprisingly, or not so surprisingly, Sora felt his facial expression showing the same thing. Kairi had a way of rubbing off on him, that was for sure.

 

Kairi's faint smile grew slightly at the expression held on Sora's face, one that sent a pang of warmth to her heart. She thought that she shouldn't be feeling such a thing at a time like this, but when Sora had that adorable glint in his eyes and that small smile, she couldn't help but accept the feeling.

 

Sora held Kairi's hand in one of his, and he gentle squeezed it before he pulled his head back slowly, his neck feeling stiff from being in that position for so long. However, during the movement, he never lost sight of Kairi's eyes. Once his head was upright again, he let his smile increase slightly in size, despite the fact that his headache had only gotten worse from the movement.

 

Kairi's hand left Sora's hair and found her lap again, her eyes still on the boy. He seemed better, but she knew that inside he wasn't feeling his best...behind the peace and comfort that was showing in his eyes.

 

Sora held back a wince, his headache so great and pulsing. He did let his smile fade a little bit at the pain, though he put up a lot of effort trying to keep it there. He didn't want Kairi to worry, and he didn't want to ruin the peaceful moment.

 

Kairi's smile softened slightly. Nothing really caused it to, though the girl was still enjoying the peaceful moment between her and Sora. The room had definitely gotten darker since she had last taken in that information, that time being when Sora had woken up...and before he walked out. But Kairi could still see the bright color of his eyes, something she could never miss even in the deepest darkness.

 

Sora gently gripped Kairi's hand, his eyes wandering down to them as he ran his thumb over her smooth sking one time. He really did feel sick, sitting up like this. But he wasn't going to be the one to walk away. Not again.

 

Kairi let her eyes fall when she felt Sora's kind gesture. It made her smile remain on her face, but she did have stored knowledge in her mind: Sora was still sick and needed care. She didn't want to end the comfortable silence, but she knew it had to be done.
