"I know, baby," Sora said quickly, hearing weariness in Kairi's voice. He wasn't trying to make her feel guilty, but he could see now that was exactly what he was doing. He pulled Kairi closer without thought, wanting to let her know through that simple gesture that he still loved her. "I'll get over it," he said simply, leaving it at that.

 

Kairi let her cheek rest against Sora's shirt, hearing his words. "No... You have a right to be upset," she said softly. "What I did to you was wrong, Sora. I shouldn't have hidden it from you like that..." She opened her eyes, her indigo orbs immediately falling on Sora's chest. "I really am sorry..."

 

Sora looked down at the girl, though she wasn't looking back up at him. He did have a reason to be upset, yes. But he knew that Kairi was sorry, and for that reason, he would try to let it go and move forward. Love held no record of wrongs. "I forgive you," Sora stated softly. "I know you were just doing what you thought was right. I'll get over it."

 

Kairi took in a breath and exhaled, closing her eyes for a moment. She then opened them, lifting her head slightly to look up at Sora. She met his ocean-blue eyes immediately, and she could see that he meant what he said.

 

Sora's eyes softened at Kairi's eyes, the teen seeing some guilt in the depths of her eyes. He hadn't meant to bring up that emotion, but he supposed it was only natural, considering the circumstances. Without thought, he moved his free hand, bringing it to Kairi's face as he tucked back some of her hair.

 

Kairi closed her eyes for a second at the soft touch. Sora was being so gentle with her when he had multiple reasons to be upset with her. She opened her eyes again, meeting Sora's eyes with her own.

 

Once the hair was back behind Kairi's ear, Sora took back his hand, lightly setting it in his lap. He held Kairi's gaze, silently reassuring her that he would try to forget about his emotions and move on.

 

Kairi kept her eyes locked with Sora's, able to see them even in the darker room. She could see the reassurance in his eyes, and she could only guess that was for what he said just a second ago. He said that he would get past it and that he forgave her...but in a way, Kairi thought that he should be really upset with her, and she wondered if that thought was caused by the guilt she was feeling.

Sora silently held Kairi's gaze, silence lingering around them. He really didn't have anything to say anymore. However, if Kairi wanted to say something, then he would definitly listen. So what if he was still a little hurt by her actions; now was what really mattered.

As Kairi gazed at Sora, she remembered one of the things he had said he was hurt by...other than her leaving. She took in a breath before speaking, knowing that he was probably really upset about it. "...And about what I did before I left you," she started slowly, lowering her gaze slightly. "I thought that, if things didn't turn out the way Roxas had planned, that I would never see you again...and that was why I kissed you like that." Kairi lifted her violet-blue eyes to Sora's ocean-blue orbs again. "All the love I felt for you...and still do...I was trying to make that feeling stronger in my heart because I didn't want you to sense with your heart the worry and fear within mine. Just in case Smith really did get what he wanted, and I was taken away again, I wanted that last kiss to be one memory I would never forget," the girl explained softly, her eyes holding Sora's piercing blue. Kairi blinked once, the tears being fought back and staying invisible.

 

Sora lowered his gaze to the bed, Kairi's words stirring up an unrecognizable emotion in his heart. Kairi said she wanted it to be a kiss she would never forget, but what about his feelings? That kiss to him represented deception, and if that had been the last memory he had of Kairi...well, he didn't know what he would feel. Putting himself in that position now, he would probably feel anger and even more hurt. Anger that he hadn't seen through Kairi's charade and hurt that he had let her go. He would have never been able to forgive himself for being so naive. Yes, Kairi's love was real, and it definitly did show during that kiss. But he wouldn't be able to see that past the deceptive plot that caused it. "Did you ever think about how I would feel?" Sora suddenly asked as he kept his eyes down away from Kairi. He surprised himself with the hurt that came through in his voice, along with a sense of coldness.

 

Kairi's eyes widened ever so slightly at Sora's voice, the tone and the question itself surprising her and taking her a little off guard. She froze for a second, just now taking into account about Sora's feelings. She hadn't thought of his emotions or feelings at all back then, and she realized now what he was getting at. "...No. No, I didn't," she admitted softly, her eyes lowering to her hand still on Sora's chest.

 

Sora closed his eyes, turning his head slightly in the other direction. The answer did surprise him in a way; Kairi normally thought of other peoples feelings. But last night was odd, and at one of the most intense moments, she had only thought of herself when she really needed to think about his feelings as well. He thought he knew her better than that. Last night had changed his perspective on a lot of things, and now he was starting to get a different view of Kairi as well.

 

In this situation, Kairi really took the saying "the truth hurts" to heart. Right now especially. She was only being honest, and that was hurtful. But last night...when she wasn't being truthful, that caused pain as well. Kairi pulled her hand back from Sora's chest, beginning to sit up straight in the bed. She leaned forward slightly, bringing up her knees and setting her elbows against them. She drew in a breath and ran a hand through her red locks, exhaling.

 

When Kairi moved, Sora took back his arm and ran a hand through his brown hair, thinking a little more before speaking. "Do you realize what position that put me in?" Sora questioned. "If that was my last memory of you, I wouldn't remember your love, I would only see the deception behind it." He suddenly felt frustrated, and he moved a hand to the bed, turning himself so his feet hit the floor. He stood himself upright, his back facing Kairi. "Even though you explained it to me, I can only think about the deception that caused this whole thing. How do you think that makes me feel?" Sora felt emotions come up inside him, and he tried fighting them off. But of course, this was easier said than done.

 

Kairi stayed silent, not moving...not saying anything. She kept her eyes on her knees while the answers to Sora's question ran through her mind. Terrible, horrible, upset, angry, frustrated, betrayed, sad...and probably a million other things, Kairi thought, pressing her lips together. Sora had a right to be upset, and she knew that...

 

Sora exhaled heavily through his nose, the breath releasing a small amount of the frustration he felt. He brought a hand up and let it cover his face, the teen standing there in the silence. He didn't know if he expected Kairi to answer or not, but he was sure he would be upset either way.

 

Kairi kept her lips together. She wasn't sure if she should say anything...because the girl was scared that she would only make things much worse than she had made them already. There was tension in the room; she could feel it, heavy on her shoulders.

 

Sora was starting to feel sick again now that he was on his feet, but he had no desire to sit back down. He felt as if he wanted to run from the problems, but he knew that wasn't a smart idea. So he locked his knees and forced himself to stay in the room, tension thick in the air.

 

Kairi bit her lip slightly, staying still for a second. She then turned her body, her legs coming off the bed and her feet touching the floor. "Maybe I should leave you alone..." she suggested quietly, her eyes on the open door to the room in front of her. This silence was making her uneasy, and she already knew she upset Sora. Kairi didn't want to cause him any more emotional pain.
