Sora silently held Kairi's gaze, able to tell from the look in her eyes that she was deep in thought. Well, he certaintly wasn't going to interupt. Whatever Kairi was thinking about, she would tell him when she was ready to talk. He would just be patient and take her lead in this situation.

 

Kairi blinked once, her eyes having been a little glazed over as she looked at the boy in front of her and thought about things. Well, whatever changed or didn't change between her and Sora, Kairi didn't think now was the best time to find out. Sora should probably rest first...and that medicine did have drowsy effects.

 

Sora continued to hold Kairi's gaze, even as she came out of her thoughts and looked back at him. His hand still rested on her cheek, and hers was over top of his. Because she made no move to remove her hand, he kept his there as well.

 

Kairi now noticed, keeping her indigo eyes connected with Sora's blue, that her vision was no longer blurry and that tears were no longer on the rims of her eyes. Maybe Sora's words were what caused them to cease, or maybe she just got so preoccupied with her thoughts that she forgot about it. Whatever the case, she was glad she wasn't close to crying anymore; Kairi didn't want Sora to see her upset when he was sick.

 

Sora blinked softly one time, suddenly having trouble keeping his eyes open. He didn't understand...he had gotten plenty of sleep during the day. In fact, when he had woken up, he hadn't even felt tired...only sick. So, why was he starting to feel so drowsy all of a sudden?

 

Kairi pressed her lips together slightly, lowering her gaze for a second. "Maybe I should let you get some rest..." she insisted quietly, lifting her eyes to Sora again. She moved her hand slightly against his arm, his hand still on her cheek.

 

Sora blinked again, forcing himself to hold Kairi's gaze. He really didn't want to sleep now, not while they were still together. He almost wished they could discuss everything at that moment, to get it done with. And if he didn't want to upset her, he would have said that. But instead, he just shook his head a little bit. "I can stay awake a little while longer," he told her softly, though he wasn't sure that was entirely true. He was pretty tired...

 

Kairi's eyes shifted into one of concern again. "You sure?" she asked. Sora wasn't really looking his best, and she knew the medicine would be taking effect soon. But she had to admit that she wanted to be with him for a little longer. Of course, she could always stay with him while he slept...

 

Sora nodded faintly without thought. He could see concern in Kairi's eyes, and he suddenly wondered if he should have let himself get some sleep. But then, he wouldn't be able to be with Kairi. Not the way he wanted to, anyway. "I think I can force myself to stay awake for a little longer," Sora said quietly, the teen shrugging slightly at the beginning of the sentence.

 

Kairi looked at Sora, his words hanging in the air. She didn't want Sora to have to force himself to do anything, especially when he was sick. She wanted him to get his needed rest, and get better soon. But she also wanted to be with him...

 

Sora saw the concern grow in Kairi's eyes, and he knew he had only worried him more with his last sentence. He exhaled softly, the breath leaving as a tired sigh. "But, how about we lean against the pillows?" Sora started quietly, his eyes flittering down for a moment before returning to Kairi's eyes. "It'll be more comfortable that way." He really did want to be close to her...but at the same time, he wanted to be in a position where he could sleep and be near her.

 

Kairi felt a small smile forming on her lips at Sora's words. "I'd like that," she said softly in response, her eyes locked on Sora's. His idea was a good one, considering the situation. And she started to wonder if he was thinking the same thing she was, about being close to him.

 

Sora smiled weakly, the reaction caused by Kairi's smile and her words. Were they feeling the same thing again? That was probably it. Even if they had a lot to discuss still, their hearts were still connected. It was reassuring for him, knowing she would always be a part of him. He lowered his gaze slightly as he turned himself a little on the bed, scooting over to the top of the bed. Once he was there, he propped up the pillows behind him and leaned back.

 

Kairi's smile faded a little as she watched Sora and then turned around herself, bringing her legs up onto the bed. She adjusted herself next to Sora and let herself lean back into the pillows he had propped up.

 

Sora let his eyes shut for a brief moment, the teen much more comfortable now that he was leaning into the pillows. It was at that moment that he realized just how tired he was. Maybe sitting back wasn't such a great idea, since now he was definitly going to fall asleep...

 

Kairi exhaled a soft breath through her nose, blinking slowly once as she sat next to Sora on his bed. Her eyes focused ahead of her for a moment, looking at the wall. She wondered how things would turn up when her and Sora finally got to the discussion that she knew was soon to come.

 

Sora forced his eyes open halfway as he lifted up an arm, gently wrapping it around Kairi's shoulders. He brought her a little closer to him. After everything, he wanted to feel close enough to her that he would know that she was safe. So much had happened, and he wasn't going to risk losing her any time soon.

 

Kairi looked up at Sora at the movement, now closer to the boy. She felt comforted in a way by his touch, especially after what happened earlier that day. She lowered her gaze, letting her eyes rest on the wall ahead of her again as she let her head lean lightly against Sora's shoulder.

 

Sora tilted his head to the side slightly, letting his head rest lightly against Kairi's. He silently exhaled a breath as he let his eyes flicker shut again, losing the battle to stay concious.

 

Kairi blinked once, letting her eyes glaze over as she stared at the wall. She heard nothing but silence, and Sora's soft breathing. She hoped he got some good rest, thinking that maybe sleep would help get rid of his sickness.
