Sora exhaled silently, bringing a hand to his head again. He hadn't noticed the sweat before, but now that he did, he was sure he had a fever. He started to wipe at it, trying to get rid of the cool sweat that coated his face.

 

Kairi walked down the hall a little ways before she turned to the left, entering the bathroom. She flipped the light on and immediately opened the cabinate, skimming over the things inside as she searched for the thermometer and some medicine.

 

Sora shook his head slightly, wondering how seriously sick he was. That gas had been meant to kill him, and it obviously hadn't done that. But was it still going to haunt him like it was now? He felt so sick now...were things going to get worse? He certainly hoped not.

 

Kairi's eyes finally spotted the thermometer, and she reached up, taking it from its place inside the cabinate. Okay, so she found the thermometer, which would tell her if her and Sora's guesses were correct or not. Now she just needed to find that medicine...

 

Sora scoot over slightly on the bed, leaning his head against the wall. He slowly lowered his hand to his lap as he shut his eyes, silently exhaling as he wished the sickness would fade away. But he knew that wasn't going to happen randomly...this was probably going to stick around for a little while.

 

Skimming over the rest of the supplies in the cabinate, near the middle shelf Kairi found the medicine. She grabbed the bottle of pills, pulling it out and examining it for a moment. The label said it would get rid of headaches, chills, and a few other things. Kairi didn't know what exactly was bothering Sora physically, but this seemed like the best medicine here. The girl held the small bottle in her hand with the thermometer as she shut the cabinate and started to exit the bathroom.

 

Sora brought up a hand again, wiping at a bead of sweat that had just started to run down his temple. Once it was completely gone, he lowered the hand again, his eyes staying closed as he sat in the silence.

 

Kairi walked down the hallway a couple feet before she turned to her left, entering Sora's room again. She was looking at the things she had in her hands as she walked, mostly looking at the medicine and the information about it. While she walked across the room, she looked up, breaking her gaze on the bottle as her eyes fell on the boy now leaning against the wall.

 

Sora's eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly when he felt a soft gaze on him, and when he opened his eyes, he realized that the gaze was Kairi's. He forced himself to straighten up again, feeling slightly embarassed that she was seeing him when he was in such bad shape. He hadn't even thought about her seeing him like this; he was a bit distracted, after all. The illness was keeping other thoughts away, but thinking about being sick wasn't too fun either.

 

Kairi reached the bed, coming to a stop at Sora's bedside as she looked at him. After a brief moment of taking in his condition, she focused her attention on the objects in her hands. She looked at the thermometer in her right hand. "We should take your temperature first," Kairi insisted as she lifted her gaze to the boy, holding the thermometer by its tip, opposite of the end that was to go in Sora's mouth.

 

Sora nodded faintly, agreeing with Kairi's analysis. "Right," he said softly. Without thought, he gently brought up his left hand. He lightly set it on the thermometer, starting to gently slide it out of Kairi's grasp. She didn't need to take care of him at that moment; he could take care of this.

 

Kairi silently let go of the thermometer, letting Sora take it out of her hand. She followed the movement, her eyes then trailing from Sora's hand to his face. He really didn't look like he felt well, and she hoped that he would get better soon.

 

Sora's eyes followed the movement as he slowly brought the thermometer to his mouth. He opened it partway, sticking the tip of the thermometer under his tongue. Lightly holding onto the end with his fingers, he let his mouth close, his gaze staying down on the item as he waited.

 

Kairi looked down at the bottle in her hands, remembering that there were pills inside. Sora would probably swallow them easier if he had water... The girl set the small bottle of medicine down on the end table by Sora's bed, her red hair falling over the side of her face slightly. She then turned around, walking across the room to go get Sora a glass of water.

 

Sora looked up slightly when he noticed Kairi leave, but he didn't question it. He couldn't, really; not with the thermometer in his mouth. He lowered his gaze to that again, waiting to hear the beep that would tell him his temperature was on display.

 

Kairi turned out of Sora's room in silence, heading down the hall and through the house until she reached the kitchen. She reached up to one of the cupboards above the counter and grabbed a glass before running it under some water, filling up the glass. She shut the faucet off, turning around and heading back to exit the room.

 

Sora waited a few more moments, feeling an urge to take the thermometer out of his mouth all together. It still hadn't made a noise, and he almost wondered if it was working. But then again, that thing always had taken a while. He just had to be patient...whether he liked it or not. Surely it would go off in a moment or two.

 

Holding the glass in her hand, Kairi left the kitchen and traveled through the house again, heading for Sora's room. Now that she thought about it, it was kind of...weird how she practically knew the layout of his house; she had been here so much within the past couple months that she felt like it was her home. And in a way, it was.

 

Sora thought he heard footsteps in the hallway, but he was distracted when he heard beeping. Finally, he thought, pulling the thermometer out of his mouth. He turned it and looked at the screen, his eyes widening slightly when he saw that he was indeed running a high fever.

 

Kairi watched where she was going for a second as she grew closer to Sora's room. She slowed her pace slightly, turning into Sora's room with the water in hand.
