Namine lightly kept her head against Roxas' shoulder, her body connected with his as he held her. Though she was close to him, his arm around her was loose enough that she wouldn't have noticed if it suddenly disapeared. However, she would know Roxas was gone for another reason entirely. If he left, she would automatically feel sad, since she didn't want to seperate herself from him.

 

Roxas felt himself smiling slightly, seeing Namine's expression. It seemed as if she were free of any haunting memories while she slept, and that was great. The boy thought back, trying to remember if he dreampt of anything while he was asleep. Now that he thought about it, he couldn't recall any nightmares in his sleep, unlike earlier. Roxas could only suppose that that was because of the girl next to him, having her close making it so he didn't have to worry.

 

Namine slept soundly, that protective aura still surrounding her. No nightmares were going to haunt her now...not while Roxas was still nearby. Namine was thankful for his presence; more thankful than she could ever put into words.

 

Roxas released a breath silently as to not wake the sleeping girl beside him, letting his eyes roam the living room. It seemed as if it were some time in the afternoon, and when Roxas found the clock in the room, he discovered that he was right; it was around two-thirty. The boy started thinking when the last time he ate had been, feeling an emptiness in his stomach. He also needed to shower...

 

Namine inhaled silently before releasing it, the girl sleeping dreamlessly at the current moment. No nightmares, no dreams, no nothing. Just emptiness and blackness.

 

Roxas flicked his eyes back to Namine, who was still resting against him. He didn't want to wake her, but he did have to go take care of a few things. The boy bit his bottom lip slightly as he slowly started to bring his arm back from around Namine's shoulders, trying his hardest not to wake her with his movement.

 

Namine continued to sleep deeply, Roxas' movement not affecting the depth of her slumber.

 

Roxas kept his eyes on Namine as he brought his free hand over and lightly put it against her, making sure that she wouldn't lean over when his arm finally wasn't around her shoulders anymore.

 

Namine leaned her head back slightly, bringing off of Roxas' shoulder as she subconciously reacted to his movements.

 

Roxas moved slightly on the couch cushion, slowly taking his hands back from Namine's form to be sure she wouldn't fall over with him no longer there. After a moment of waiting, he carefully and quietly rose from his seat on the couch.

 

Namine's head drooped slightly, but other than that, she was not affected by Roxas' presence beside her disapearing.

 

Roxas turned his head slightly as he started walking past the couch, his eyes on Namine's form for a moment before he looked ahead of him. He left the living room in silence, heading to the bathroom to get washed up.

 

Namine suddenly was aware that the spot beside her was empty, and she slowly lowered herself down on the couch, laying herself on her side. Her head rested lightly on the armrest, the girl still asleep. However, the content of her dreams changed, the blackness around her suddenly becoming more frightening for some inexplicable reason. And then, it began to change entirely, into something much worse.

Dressed in a clean, solid red T-shirt and dark jeans, Roxas ran a hand through his slightly damp but still spiky hair, finishing up making two sandwiches: one for him, and one for Namine whenever she woke up. He figured that she would be hungry, after not eating ever since she was with him last night.

 

Namine rolled over in her sleep, her face hidden by the couch as she laid on her stomach. Her eyebrows were furrowed slightly, the girl having an uncomfortable experience in her sleep.

All that she saw was black. The only thing that she was aware of was that she was by herself, lying face-down on the cold warehouse floor in the early morning of that day. One hand laid beside her head, that hand curled into a light fist.

"Namine!"

What? Who was there with her? Namine recognized the voice of course, as well as the concern behind it. Though darkness surrounded her, the voice started to call her out of her unconciousness.

"Namine," the voice was softer now, though Namine could tell that the sourse of the noise was closer to her. She moved her hand slightly, coming out of it even more. As she regained conciousness, the memories came back to her. She was lying face down on the floor because Smith had punched her...very hard. And then he had just left her there, letting her fade out of conciousness. But now, this other presence was waking her up.

"Namine..." the voice whispered her name one last time, and Namine felt herself being rolled over gently, on her back now. She wasn't on the ground completely, a pair of strong arms holding up her torso slightly. It was gentle, and that one kindness alone brought Namine out of her unconciousness. She opened her eyes partway, blinking several times before she got a clear image of the person who was holding her, and gazing down at her with concerned eyes. Roxas.

 

Roxas pressed his lips together subconciously as he started to tie the band around the bread bag, beginning to clean up after himself. Silence engulfed his house, but he was comfortable with it. It wasn't chaotic...or scary; it was just...calm.

 

Namine had a hard time forcing her eyes open right away, her head pounding as she looked up into Roxas' concerned orbs. But she opened them up as much as she could, trying to get rid of the dazed feeling she had. "...Roxas?" Namine asked softly, her voice making her sound weak and broken. Her headache was so terrible that she felt as if she wanted to cry, but she was so relieved to see Roxas, that she kept her tears inside, ignoring the pain to the best of her ability.

"Namine," Roxas spoke her name again, his eyes softening as they ran over her features. He shook his head slightly, sadness appearing in those bright blue orbs. "Gosh, what did he do to you?"

Namine recognized that he was referring to Smith, but she also figured that he wasn't looking for a response. Now wasn't the time to talk about this. Though he wasn't with them, she had a feeling he was still around. She still sensed that evil...the greatest evil she had ever delt with. The girl blinked once, Roxas' arm still around her back as he had her propped up, halfway between sitting and lying down.

 

Roxas grabbed the loaf of bread and walked over to the other side of the kitchen, putting the bread away. He then walked back silently to where he was before, cleaning up after his preparing of the sandwiches.

 

Roxas only looked at Namine for a few more moments before speaking again, his eyes wandering around the room. "We need to get out of here. Now," he spoke nervously, concern in his eyes as he looked down at Namine. The girl nodded faintly, and Roxas started to help her to her feet.

After a few more moments, Namine was fully upright, Roxas standing right there with her. His hand was on her shoulder, and his bright blue eyes never left hers. The gentleness behind them made Namine want to cry again, but she knew that she needed to keep her composure for now. However, she let out a short whimper when an evil laugh echoed in the room. Her eyes widened, and she scanned the area, Roxas doing the same. Smith appeared on the other side of the room, staring smugly at both teens. Namine shivered slightly, meeting his cold stare. She immediatly turned her head away, not wanting to look at the man.

"Smith," Roxas' voice was cold as he stared directly at the evil man. Hatred and anger came through in the voice, though Namine didn't pay attention to that. She didn't care how angry Roxas got at this point; she just wanted to never have to come in contact with this man again.

"Hello Roxas," the reply came, entering Namine's ears. "I've come to take away what's most precious to you."

Namine's eyes widened slightly, and at that moment, she felt a warm presence surround her. Roxas had stepped over closer to her, and now he held her protectively in his arms. His embrace was tight, and Namine felt a bit safer now. She leaned her head against his shoulder lightly, her arms going around him as they both held each other. Roxas' hand found a way to the back of her head, bringing Namine even closer to him for protection.

Namine's lip quivered slightly in her sleep, the girl feeling desperation in the nightmare. The events of her dream affected her feelings, making her afraid and depressed.

 

Roxas put the rest of what he used for the sandwiches away, shutting the fridge. He made his way back to the counter and grabbed one of the sandwiches off its plate, bringing it to his mouth and taking a bite out of it. He instantly felt his mouth water, realizing now just how hungry he was as he chewed.
