Kingdom Hearts- FFM V3!

Namine's eyes widened slightly in surprise, Roxas' stern voice entering her ears. She couldn't stop doubting herself, not now. Not now that everything she once recognized as truth could be false. But she stayed silent, knowing that Roxas didn't want to hear any more.

 

Roxas exhaled a breath and lowered his head, starting to push himself up from the floor. He used the couch for support, fighting off the pain that rang out slightly in certain parts of his body. Now that he was standing upright, he looked down at Namine's form on the couch, standing in front of her feet. "What happened?" he asked, his voice showing his deep concern and seriousness. Something had to have taken place in order for her to be this way.

 

Namine shut her eyes, hearing concern as well as seriousness in Roxas' voice. Tears appeared behind her closed eyelids, memories returning to her mind and impacting her heart. All the things Smith said to her--telling her that she was a burden, and that nobody could love her, she believed them because they were logical. But her heart told her differently, going against those thoughts. Namine just felt so lost...she had no idea where to start.

 

Roxas kept his gaze on her, waiting patiently for an answer. Last night must have had a huge impact on Namine, but what could have happened that made her so full of self-doubt, and that she had to actually ask if Roxas loved her?

 

Namine exhaled heavily, the breath leaving her quietly. She set one hand down on the couch beside her as she turned her body, her legs toward the edge of the couch. She pushed them over the edge, her feet landing on the ground. Though she felt Roxas' gaze on her, she wasn't ready to look up into those piercing blue eyes yet. She needed just one more moment to think...how could she possibly tell Roxas all that happened?

 

Roxas's eyes followed Namine as she stood up, and his head turned to the side slightly so he could look at her. His eyebrows furrowed slightly as the silence continued, but he had to break it. "It was Smith, wasn't it?" he asked, his voice a little tight as if he already knew the answer. And he was sure he did.

 

Roxas' question entered her ears as soon as she finished rising to her feet, and she shut her eyes a bit more tightly at the name. "He said some things..." Namine said softly, not finishing that sentence. Everything he said affected her, and she didn't know how to start it all. She wasn't the same girl she was a week ago, though she desperatly wished she was.

 

Roxas exhaled through his mouth, frustrated to know he was right. It was Smith, of course it was. Roxas shook his head, and looked the other direction for a moment, waiting for Namine to continue.

 

"...He...opened my eyes to some things. He showed me some things that I never wanted to think about before. But he was right about everything he said to me." Namine opened her eyes a crack, lowering her head as she gazed at the floor. The tears were gone...for now. But she was sure they would return soon enough.

 

"Like what?" Roxas asked, his tone calm as he kept his head in the other direction for the moment. He lowered his head slightly in sad realization that Smith may have made Namine second-guess his love for her. If he was going to understand everything, though, he needed detail.

 

Namine kept her gaze lowered, Roxas' question entering her ears. There was so much to say... "He told me that it was impossible for anyone to love me," she said softly, her eyes closing at that fact. "That I was too much of a burden, and that not even you could love me anymore. I'm not worth the trouble I've put you through, Roxas." Namine bit her lip lightly, sadness filling her heart.

 

Roxas's head turned suddenly toward Namine at her words, his expression changing completely; his eyes were a little wide, his lips parted in disbelief. "...You can't be serious," he said softly, his voice showing a small bit of hurt that had come from her words.

 

Namine kept her head down, though she did nod faintly in response to Roxas. Unfortunatly, she was serious. She never thought she would be in this position before, but now she was. How could Roxas possibly love her when she was so useless? She didn't think it was possible...

 

Roxas's lips parted a little more at the silent gesture of confirmation. He lowered his head and shook it in sadness, taking a few steps away from Namine without thought, caught up in shock, disbelief, anger (at Smith), and sadness at the same time. He brought a hand to his head, exhaling a breath. How could this be? Was Namine saying she didn't love him anymore? Or was she saying it was the other way around?

 

"...People around me always get hurt because of me," Namine continued softly, her eyes on the floor. "How can they possibly love somebody who brings them so much pain and sorrow?" Namine bit down on her lip again, waiting for a response.

 

Roxas lowered his hand from his forehead and shook his head, the disbelief growing inside him. He then turned around halfway, looking across his shoulder at the girl. "Did Smith tell you that too?" he asked, his anger at the man starting to come through, when he didn't want it to.

 

Namine paused for a moment, tyring to remember what Smith said to her. He had said so much, but now his words were mixed with her own personal thoughts; she couldn't tell them apart anymore. "Does it really matter?" Namine asked softly, aware of the sound of anger in Roxas' voice. "It's the truth, no matter where it came from."

 

"It does matter!" Roxas said suddenly, the words leaving him before he had time to stop them. His body was now facing hers, a good few feet between them. "It's not the truth," he said in a calmer tone, quieter. He made a sound of disgust, squeezing his eyes shut at the thought of Smith. They opened suddenly as he spoke again. "What did he do to you, Namine? Why do his words have such a huge effect on you?!" Roxas's blue eyes were practically pleading for her to stop, sadness, worry, disbelief, and concern in their depths.

 

Namine tensed slightly, Roxas' sudden outbursts having an influence on her. Why did Smith have such a great effect on her? Perhaps she was already broken when he spoke to her, because of the fear he put inside her. She was vulnerable...as always. And now she was even more vulnerable than ever. At least, she felt that way. She turned herself slightly, her back facing more toward Roxas. She didn't have an answer to his questions, not now.

 

Roxas's saddened eyes stayed on Namine, looking at the back of her blonde head as she faced away from him. Silence engulfed the room again, causing tension. He just didn't understand... Why was Namine...giving up so easily?
