Namine perked up slightly at the voice, the question surprising her. She opened her eyes, turning her head as she let her chin rest on top of her knees again. Her gaze stayed forward, though she noticed out of the corner of her eye that Roxas was looking at her. "Nothing," she said softly, lying again.

 

A questionable look came across Roxas's face at Namine's answer. He shook his head slightly as he spoke. "I don't believe that for a second," he admitted softly, though there was a bit of firmness behind his voice. So much had happened, and nothing was wrong? Namine's expression said different.

 

Namine wasn't surprised that Roxas didn't believe her, but she was surprised he said so out loud. But then again, they always did have an open relationship. She knew she wasn't being very open now, but she really wasn't in much of a mood to talk about something so serious. However, she felt she didn't have a choice in the matter; Roxas wasn't going to let this go easily. However, she stayed silently anyway, unable to think of anything to say as she looked down at the couch again.

 

Roxas's questionable expression was replaced by one of slight sadness when Namine didn't respond. But on the other hand, he had to understand that this really was a touchy subject, whatever "this" was. There were a million things that could be referred to at this point. Roxas lowered his gaze to the couch again as he exhaled, not sure of what exactly was going on between him and Namine; there was something...different.

 

"...I guess I'm not a very good liar," Namine stated softly, her gaze staying down. She wasn't sure if her voice gave it away, or her expression, but either way, Roxas knew something was wrong. But of course there was something wrong; she had been taken captive for a very long time, stuck with a creep who made her doubt everything she once believed it. How could that not cause problems?

 

Roxas pressed his lips together, not objecting nor agreeing with that statement. Truth be told, he was a little upset that Namine would even think of lying to him, and because she did, it hurt a little. He thought they had a pretty open relationship. Was he wrong? Roxas blinked once as he stayed silent. At the moment, lying really wasn't the best option, especially when there are so many things wrong that it's hard to deny that nothing is.

 

Namine kept her eyes down, a silent breath leaving her. She knew exactly what was wrong, and there was a question she wanted to ask, but she was also afraid of hearing the answer. However, nothing would be resolved if she didn't ask the thing that haunted her most. So...

 

Roxas took in a breath as he stayed kneeling on the floor, sitting on the back of his legs in front of the couch. He lifted his gaze to look at Namine, and of course his eyes found her. But she still wasn't looking at him, and Roxas wasn't really sure why.

 

"...Do you still love me?" Namine asked randomly, her question coming out quietly. There, it was out in the open now. That was what really mattered now, at least, that was one of the things that mattered. She would have to tell Roxas about everything else as well, but first, she needed to get an answer to that question.

 

Roxas's eyes widened slightly, the boy blinking in shock. What kind of question was that? "Of course I do," he said honestly, his eyebrows furrowing slightly in concern. "Why wouldn't I?" Roxas was a little surprised by the question. Why was she asking that? Was she doubting their relationship or something? He didn't understand.

 

Namine blinked once, Roxas' answer having reached her ears quickly. He may have said he loved her, but she knew that it was impossible to love her. She was too much trouble; too much of a burden. "Because I get in so much trouble," she said softly, her gaze staying down as she avoided Roxas' eyes.

 

Roxas looked at Namine with very confused and concerned eyes. "What...do you mean?" he asked slowly. Was she saying that he shouldn't because of what happened last night?

 

What did she mean? Namine thought it was pretty obvious. "I'm too much of a burden," she stated softly, her eyes closing as she spoke those words. "You got hurt because of it, and so did Sora and Kairi." Namine paused there, unsure of where to go next.

 

"What?" The word left Roxas's mouth without thought; an immediate reaction to something so ridiculous. "Namine, you're not a burden," he said, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. "Sora and Kairi would tell you the same."

 

Namine shook her head slightly, finally turning her gaze to Roxas as she opened her eyes. "Then they'd be lying," she said softly, looking at the boy who was returning her gaze. "I...always get into such horrible situations, and I can never get myself out of them. If that's not being a burden, then I don't know what is." Namine bit her lip lightly, her gaze falling down to the couch again.

 

"Then I don't know what a burden is either, because you're definitely not one," Roxas insisted, looking Namine in the eye. This was all quite confusing to him; he didn't really know how to take it.

 

Namine looked up at the answer, starting to feel a little frustrated. "Fine, then what am I?" Namine asked quietly, meeting Roxas' eyes. He would have to admit that she was more trouble than she was worth, because that was the truth.Tears threatened to appear in her eyes, and though her eyes did start to get a little moist, no tears appeared at that moment.

 

Roxas blinked once, holding her gaze. "Namine," he answered simply. "You're Namine." She was thinking negatively of herself, which was very unlike her. But...why? He was sure that the surprise and confusion were apparent in his eyes, because that's exactly what Namine was doing to him.

 

"Like that's so great," Namine mumbled softly, her gaze lowering again. Yes, she was herself. But she was worthless, having nothing to offer to her friends, family, or anyone she ever came in contact with.

 

Roxas's eyes widened slightly at her murmer, and then they narrowed slightly as he grew more serious. "Namine, stop it," he said firmly. "Stop doubting yourself like this." This wasn't her; this wasn't...Namine.
