Namine continued toward the door, shifting her gaze from Sora to Smith cautiously. If that man made any move...

Smith noticed both girls leaving, and an idea immediatly struck him. It was just one quick, easy oppurtunity to ruin some lives, and he was going to follow through on that idea. He shifted his blade suddenly, and in the new lighting, he was sure the four teens could recognize it as a gunblade. He pulled back on a hidden trigger and sent a bullet toward the Princess.

Sora's eyes widened at Smith's sudden movement, and Sora registered what was going on within a millisecond. Without thought, he ran forward and toward Kairi. He couldn't summon his blade in time to deflect the speeding bullet, or cast a spell to have a similar affect. Once he was right by her, he reached forward and grabbed her arm. He pulled her out of the way, putting himself in the line of fire in the process. When the projectile collided with his shoulder, he hissed softly and his eyes closed as he furrowed in eyebrows in pain.

 

Kairi stumbled slightly when she was suddenly tugged, but regained her footing and stood upright, one hand against the cold wall next to her to help her keep her balance. She heard a hiss and she looked over in the direction, her eyes falling on him. "Sora!"

Roxas turned his head sharply when Smith fired and had watched the whole scene, catching Sora step in the way of the bullet that had been aimed at Kairi. The girl's cry rang in his ears, and his eyes were wide as he looked at his friend.

 

Namine froze when she heard Sora get hit, her eyes widening as she turned to face him. She stood right by the doorway, and the sudden turn of events had left her stunned.

Sora opened his eyes at the cry, first looking at Smith and then turning to Kairi. He nodded faintly, letting her know that he was alright. The bullet had impacted him, yes, but he judging by the amount of pain he felt now, it would heal in a few days or a week. At least, he hoped his judgement was correct. He motioned again for the door. Smith had surprised him with that one attack, and he didn't want anymore surprises.

"Hmph," Smith looked at Sora, surprised that the brunette had suddenly stepped in. That wretched Keyblade bearer...he sure did have the worst timing. He gripped his weapon more tightly, though he made no move to fire another shot.

 

Kairi's wide eyes went back to their normal size, her eyebrows furrowing slightly in concern and worry, as well as fear. Her sight switched to Smith for a brief moment before she cautiously took those few steps to the door nearby.

Roxas' eyes stayed on Sora for another moment, the boy concerned for his friend. But he realized he was alright, and the blond's gaze switched to one of the girls at the doorway, the blonde in particular. She would be safe outside of the room, and with Sora.

 

Sora's shoulder was throbbing, but he would worry about that in a few moments. First, he had to get the girls out of the room. Their safety came before his own needs, as always. He turned his gaze toward Smith and cautiously started toward the door, prepared in case the man made another move to attack him or the girls.

Namine saw Sora heading toward the door, and she felt relieved that he didn't appear to be hurt too badly. Though he didn't look too good now, perhaps because of what had happened to him earlier. Namine looked over at Roxas one last time before turning her eyes to the door again, being the first to exit the room.

Smith saw the three teens moving again, but he had already had his fun, so he didn't attack them again. No, now it was time for his long awaited fight with Roxas.

 

Kairi let her eyes fall on the hallway outside the broken doorway, following Namine out of the room and leaving Roxas and Smith in the room alone.

Roxas watched as Namine vanished from his sight, her form leaving out the door he had barged through. He exhaled silently, knowing that it was time to end this...permanently. The boy's piercing blue eyes flickered away from the doorway, landing on the worst threat he had ever experienced.

 

Sora turned once he was right in the doorway, seeing now that Smith wasn't going to attack him again. He exited the room last, following the girls out.

Namine walked over to the side slightly, out of the way of the doorway. She took a few steps over and turned around, leaning herself lightly against the wall as she looked from Kairi to Sora.

Smith met Roxas' glare, and he tightened the grip on his dark blade. He was ready now; he wasn't going down easily today, that was for sure.

 

Kairi bit her lip lightly as she looked down at the ground, standing in the middle of the hall but away from the door. At this point, anything could happen, and she wasn't too sure she was okay with that.

Roxas' eyes narrowed as his eyebrows furrowed, his angry stare staying on Smith. He tightened his grip on his Keyblades, getting into his stance in silence. He blinked once, his heart beating as adrenaline pulsed through his body. "Ready to die?" he asked with a smirk.

 

Sora stopped in the middle of the hall, between Kairi and Namine. He knew that if anything happened, he was responsible to protect the girls. So for that reason, he stayed an equal distance from both girls. But now, he had a distraction: his left shoulder. He shifted his gaze down to it, seeing some blood starting to flow from the gunshot wound.

Smith's lips curled up slightly, a smirk appearing on his lips as well. "You first."

 

Kairi closed her eyes, taking a breath as she gnawed on her lip. If something terrible happened, even more so than already...she would have to blame herself to a greater degree than she already did. This was her fault after all, the Princess being the root of this whole thing.

"Hmph," Roxas said, his smirk staying on his face. He paused for a few seconds, though they felt much longer than that as he held Smith's glare. After a brief moment, Roxas gripped his Keyblades tightly and darted toward Smith, wanting to end this for good.

 

Smith gripped his blade more tightly as he shifted positions, setting his footing before he charged forward. Though he wasn't as fast as Roxas, he had more strength. That was definitly going to work to his advantage.

Sora exhaled a heavy breath, though it came out silently. He brought up his right hand, gently inspecting the wound that he had recieved from Smith.

 

Roxas' smirk started to disappear, a look of anger starting to take its place as he rushed toward Smith, who only charged right back. His grip on his weapons tightened till he couldn't hold on any more securely. As he sprinted toward Smith, the Keyblades stayed at his sides, in ready position. He and Smith were about to collide, but Roxas was ready.

 

Sora winced faintly when he touched too close to the wound, a stinging sensation running through him. At that point, he decided to leave it alone and worry about it some other time. He lowered his hand to his side, clenching it in a light fist.

Smith noticed that Roxas was waiting until the last minute to raise his weapons, and he saw that as a bold move alone. Once they were close enough, he swung his weapon with all his might, bringing it down on Roxas.

 

Roxas lifted up Oblivion in his right hand, a loud sound reverberating from their weapons clashing together. Oathkeeper still in his left hand, Roxas started to swing it horizontally at Smith, a cry leaving his lips.

Kairi winced when a loud clash came from inside the room. She turned slightly in surprise just as a battle cry entered her ears.

 

Namine's eyes shut when she heard the battle cry, the girl uncomfortable with the fact that Roxas was fighting Smith. Though she had faith that Roxas was strong enough to come out victorious, she was still worried about him.

Sora turned himself toward the door slightly, hearing the noises coming from there. He knew that the battle had started, and he just hoped that Roxas wouldn't be injured. When Sora had fought Smith earlier, it had been a very difficult battle, and in the end, neither of them had been able to defeat the other. That was when Smith had disapeared and made a surprise visit to his three friends.

Smith saw Roxas' other Keyblade coming at him, but unfortunately, there was nothing he could have done to deflect it. He fell back slightly, a cry leaving him when the tip of Roxas' blade cut through him. Despite that wound, he kept his blade against Roxas'.

 

Roxas ignored Smith's cry, but he didn't ignore the fact that he was causing him pain; that was exactly what he wanted to do. Oathkeeper successfuly injuring Smith, Roxas pushed against Smith's blade with Oblivion, wanting to do more damage as his anger began to boil inside him. Soon it would turn into rage, and with that fiery wrath and two weapons instead of one, Roxas was sure that he would cause more damage.

Kairi's eyes were locked on the doorway, the only sign of battle being the noises from it. She was scared for Roxas; because of the way Smith talked to him and looked at him, this battle was because of more than just her. It was revenge for Smith, and an external but also internal battle for Roxas.

 

Smith felt Roxas pushing harder on his blade, but Smith pushed back harder, using his extra height and weight as an advantage.

Namine furrowed her eyebrows slightly, hearing more noise coming from the room. She was so worried, and she felt as if she wanted to cry. But she knew that now wasn't the time or place to release those tears.

 

Roxas ground his teeth together when he felt the extra weight Smith put against his Keyblade. He only had one arm up, and that was his disadvantage. Roxas released a grunt as he got pushed back by the force Smith had on him, the boy taking quick steps to catch himself to regain his footing. However, his eyes never drifted away from Smith, his piercing blue eyes locked on the evil yellow-orange.

 

"Hmph." Smith glared at Roxas, his bright orange-yellow eyes staring into piercing blue. He suddenly charged forward, lifting his blade to strike. Roxas surely wasn't prepared for such a move, and Smith was going to get a victory by any means possible. Maybe he could still finish things here, completely his revenge and getting the princess. But for now, he focused on the battle, knowing that if he lost focus, the battle would have turned to defeat for him.

 

Roxas' weapons were at his sides, and too low for him to lift in time to stop the attack that was going to come down on him. The boy's blue eyes widened, his mouth opening to gasp as he trailed Smith's blade's movement, coming toward him quickly.
