Namine nodded faintly, understanding what Roxas was saying. She brought her head off of his chest slowly, her gaze falling to the ground. Though she didn't want to leave Roxas' arms, it obviously had to be done, so there was no point to hold on any longer. She started to loosen her embrace around him.

 

Roxas' eyes stayed on Namine, but his arms started to pull back gently from her form. Truth be told, he didn't want to let go of her; he wanted to hold her in his arms for a long time, especially after this. But they had to seperate in order for the problems at hand to be solved.

 

Namine felt Roxas' eyes on her, but she didn't return his gentle gaze. Keeping her eyes on the floor, she continued to bring her arms forward until she had them back to her sides, no longer holding Roxas.

 

Roxas' eyes softened slightly when Namine avoided his gaze. "Hey," he said, wanting her attention. He moved one of his hands off her side, bringing it up and under her chin. He gently lifted her chin so he could meet her eyes.

 

Namine blinked softly once when she heard Roxas' voice, and then she felt him gently lift her chin. She let him perform the soft movement as her light blue eyes flitted upward, metting Roxas' ocean-blue orbs.

 

Roxas' gentle ocean-blue orbs gazed softly into the sky-blue in front of him, his hand under the girl's chin. "It's going to be okay," he said softly. "I promise you." And he would keep that promise; he was going to get her out of here...and soon.

 

Namine felt touched by Roxas' soft words, and by his promise. She kept her gaze on his eyes, not looking away this time. She believed in him, and in his promise.

 

Roxas offered Namine a faint, weak smile as he looked into her eyes. Assurance was probably best at the moment, and the promise hopefully fullfilled that part. The blond boy leaned forward slightly and kissed Namine lightly on the lips, his hand still under her chin. After a brief moment, he gently pulled back and returned to his previous position.

 

Namine felt a small sliver of hope when Roxas kissed her, the girl appreciating the gesture. She returned his small smile with a weak one of her own, that being her only response. Since she wasn't exactly feeling her best, she couldn't think of anything to say at that moment. But she had a feeling Roxas understood that.

 

Roxas let his hand leave the underside of Namine's chin, the boy's eyes falling on her small smile. His lips turned up slightly at the sight before he started to stand, his other hand coming off Namine's side.

 

Namine set one hand on the ground as she shifted slightly, putting her feet underneath her as she prepared to stand herself up. She looked down at her hand as she started to stand up, feeling stiff from being tied for so much time within the past few hours.

 

Roxas' eyes stayed on Namine as he stood upright, the boy reaching down slightly and gently putting his underneath her arm to help her up. She probably wasn't feeling her best...after everything. The least he could do was help her up.

 

Namine looked down when she felt a soft touch, her eyes finding Roxas's hand gently under her arm. She appreciated his sensitivity, and she looked up again, meeting his eyes as she stood herself upright.

 

Roxas met Namine's eyes, the girl now fully standing upright. He nodded at her once with the same faint smile, taking back his hand since she was now standing on her own. It was time to get her and Kairi out of here, and to safety. Smith would have to wait.

 

Namine felt her lips turn up slightly at Roxas' smile, and she felt relieved that he was getting her out of here. Hopefully nothing else was going to go wrong; she couldn't handle any more drama.

"Well, isn't that cute?" a dark voice echoed in the room, and it was followed by a very faint chuckle. Smith suddenly appeared on the other side of the room, appearing to be slightly wounded. But even noticable than his wounds was the fact that he was staring directly at Namine.

 

Roxas whirled at the evil, familiar voice, the chilling chuckle following shortly. His eyes caught onto Smith and his smile vanished, his gentle eyes transitioning into the piercing blue that only glared at enemies. Smith looked slightly wounded, Sora apparently having done some damage over the past few minutes.

Kairi froze at the sudden appearance, her eyes immediately darting to the man that had been wanting her. She stared at him while he looked at Namine, her violet-blue orbs wide.

 

He's back, Namine thought fearfully, her eyes widening slightly in surprise and panic. She saw his cold gaze stay on her and she shivered slightly, feeling very frightened by his sudden appearance.

Smith held Namine's gaze, despite the fact that Roxas was glaring at him. He didn't even have his blade at the moment, so this could go on for a while if the blonde Keyblade bearer allowed it to.

 

Roxas noticed that Smith only held his eyes on Namine's form, and Roxas didn't like the way he looked at her. His eyebrows furrowing over his glaring eyes, Roxas took a step over, blocking Namine's form from Smith's evil stare.

 

Namine immediatly felt a difference when Roxas stepped forward, getting directly in line with Smith's stare. She appreciated that, and she felt protected despite the fact that Roxas wasn't even looking at her. She turned herself to the side slightly and lowered her gaze to the floor, not wanting to look over at the man on the other side of the room. She raised one hand without thought, lightly setting it on Roxas' back. She couldn't have said why she did that, she just wanted him to know that she appreciated his stepping over.

A soft chuckle left Smith's lips as he stared at Roxas, a smug, prideful look on his face. So, Roxas was finally stepping in to protect that which was dear to him. It was about time; this was a fight he had thought of many times, and he was ready.

 

"Something funny?" Roxas asked to the man across the room, his eyebrows over his piercing blue eyes in concentration and seriousness. He felt Namine's hand on his back, and he desperately wanted to just turn around and hold her protectively in his arms. But he couldn't protect her in that way, not now; he had to protect her by defending her, fighting this man.
