As much as Namine really didn't want to bring it up, she had to ask the question that haunted her mind. Well, one of them, anyway. She was still too shy to bring up the other one. "Roxas?" she started softly, speaking for the first time since Roxas had released her. "Do you know if Sora's okay?" The last she had seen him, he had appeared to be...

 

Roxas opened his eyes at the soft voice, hearing fear and a bit of worry in it. "Yeah," he answered softly. "He's fine..." And he's fighting Smith, Roxas thought, now remembering that Sora hadn't appeared to be in that good of shape when he had shown up...

 

Namine nodded her head faintly, glad to hear that. So, Sora had only been knocked unconcious (or something like that)...Thank goodness he wasn't dead. If her close friend had died saving her, she would have never forgiven herself for it. After all, he had been hurt because he had protected her. She had no idea how she could have ever repaid him for that.

 

Roxas turned his head slightly toward Namine, the side of his face against her blonde hair. "Are you all right?" he asked softly, very concerned about her condition. Things must have gotten serious for her to question Sora's status and for the brunet to say he had failed.

 

Namine nodded faintly again, feeling Roxas' head lightly by hers. "He saved me," she stated softly. She herself wasn't very sure as to what had happened earlier, but it was obvious to her that Sora had nearly given up his life for hers.

 

Roxas kept his eyes down on the concrete flooring, the boy exhaling silently. He really owed Sora for this. He really did. Namine was super important to him, and the fact that Sora had saved her...Roxas was grateful.

 

Namine lightly kept her head against Roxas' chest, the girl not having a desire to move away any time soon. She was so grateful that Sora was alright, especially after something that had been so serious just a little while ago.

 

Roxas pressed his lips together, closing his eyes again. "I'm so sorry..." he said, a wave of guilt washing over him. This was all his fault; if he had just killed Smith last time, none of this would have even happened.

 

Namine opened her eyes partway, gazing at the floor. "Why?" she asked quietly, hearing sorrow in Roxas' soft spoken words.

 

Roxas kept his eyes closed, turning his head away from her slightly. Why? Wasn't it obvious? It was his fault that Smith had come back...and done this. He hadn't killed Smith like he thought he had, and Namine was hurt because of that...as well as Sora. It didn't really matter what anyone said; the fact that Smith was alive and causing harm really was his fault.

 

Namine felt hurt when Roxas didn't answer, and she felt as if she had done something wrong. "Roxas...?" She tilted her head up slightly so she could look at him, her eyes opening completely as she gazed upward.

 

Roxas heard Namine's voice and then felt her light gaze on him, but he didn't open his eyes. His eyebrows furrowed slightly, the boy biting his lip. He exhaled, slowly opening his blue eyes, but not looking down at the blonde girl in his arms. "It's my fault he's alive..." he started, "...and it's my fault he hurt you." The last part really hit him hard, and he shut his eyes again at the realization.

 

Namine's eyes softened at Roxas' confession. So, that was why he was apologizing. Though it was his mistake, Namine didn't think he should have felt guilt for it. "You couldn't have known he was alive," she said quietly, her soft gaze staying on Roxas despite the fact that he wasn't looking at her.

 

Roxas pressed his lips together at her words. Somehow, he had known that Namine would say something like that. It had been something he expected to hear, though it didn't remove any guilt.

 

Namine lowered her gaze again after a few moments after Roxas didn't offer a response. She knew her words probably didn't help too much, but it was the one thing she could think of to say at that moment. After all, she was still struggling with her own emotions, despite the fact that things were more calm now.

 

Roxas exhaled, another sense of realization hitting him. Sulking about his mistake wasn't going to make things any better. The only thing that could possibly make him feel better now would be to destroy Smith...for good this time.

 

Namine shut her eyes again, a silent breath leaving her. She had been in this place for a really long time, and with memories, along with a nagging headache, bothering her, she felt as if she wanted to leave and never come back.

 

"Just forget about it," Roxas said, his eyes now open as he shook his head slightly. This definitely wasn't the time or place. He needed to get Namine out of here, and handle Smith.

 

Namine opened her eyes when she heard Roxas speak, looking at the wall in front of her. She didn't quite understand what his words meant, but she was too drained to really question it.

 

Roxas turned his head slightly toward Namine, his eyes falling on her again. He exhaled softly, letting his hand fall from her hair to her back, next to his other hand. "We should get you out of here, before anything else." Despite what he was feeling inside, he was still very protective over her, and her safety was important.
