KHV Plays Text Adventures

The thread that started it all.

This is a thread where we will play text adventures. You guys do the input and I'll do every single thing you say in the game, then post the results one command at a time. At the beginning of each session I'll copy and past the description of the current game from its page on TV Tropes. I also urge everyone to take this as seriously as you can. It's no fun if some dick just goes ahead and gets us killed every time we play the game.

That's pretty much it.

We're going to start with one of the best remembered text adventures of all time, an adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

With that, let's begin!

You wake up. The room is spinning very gently round your head. Or at least it would be if you could see it which you can't.

It is pitch black.

 

Out of the spamzone, time to get serious and stuff.


Get out of bed.

 

Very difficult, but you manage it. The room is still spinning. It dips and sways a little.

 

Turn on light.

 

Good start to the day. Pity it's going to be the worst one of your life. The light is now on.

Bedroom
The bedroom is a mess. It is a small bedroom with faded carpet and old wallpaper. There is a washbasin, a chair with a tatty dressing gown slung over it, and a window with the curtains drawn. Near the exit leading south is a phone.
There is a flathead screwdriver here.
There is a toothbrush here.

 

Retrieve Screwdriver

 

I don't know the word "retrieve".

 

Close curtains

 

You must tell me how to do that to your curtains.

 

You lunge for it, but the room spins nauseatingly away. The floor gives you a light tap on the forehead.

 

Roll to the door

 

I don't know the word "roll".

Pick up the toothbrush

 

You're certainly picking the tough tasks. The floor acts like a trampoline on an ice rink, or like something they've been working on for years at Disneyland.

Oh, duh.

Go to the washbasin.

I got it this, I hope I do.

 

That's not important, leave it alone.

[Kay, so it turns out that's not in the version I'm using, but it's kinda necessary so I'm going to update to the next available version and then redo all the commands. It's a good thing I caught this soon. I'll edit this post with the result of the last command ASAP.]
