Shades is playing out at the shooting range. Some guy who is imitating Billy the Kid decides to yell 'Make my day!' and flips his gun around all not so cooly, accidentally firing it. The bullet makes its way to Shades' eye and he falls over dead.

 

I have failed! I'll be in the graveyard with all the other failures.

Ya know, he's actually partially right. You detectives don't make lists enough and the dead people aren't going to. I've been nice and kept track on the first page but only with the bare facts. You meanies who are still living!
