"The idea sounds like the most logical, but I have a bad feeling about it," Kairi said.

"So do I," Roxas said as he looked out the window. "But we need to find out what exactly they want with Sora, and most likely with us now."

 

Sora felt like he had been punched again by Roxas' words. It was his fault that they were involved. And now they were in danger too. And if all three of them had a bad feeling about confrontation, it meant that running away really was his only option.

 

Kairi looked down. "I'm just afraid that they won't listen to us..."

Roxas cocked his head to the side. "Why?"

"Because we're a bunch of teenagers to them, and they probably think we're just being trouble." Kairi looked up at him. "But they're wrong. We've been through so much more than they know, or could understand."

 

Sora looked down to his feet. What would happen if he were to run away? Would his friends search for him? Would the police find them and question them about his whereabouts?

Or would all that happen whether he stayed or not? He didn't know.

 

Roxas nodded and stared down at the table. "I'm thinking that if we take the confrontation route that maybe we'll be taken in for questioning. Sora hasn't done anything to them, so I don't really see why they'd lock him up. They'd probably just ask him questions about the torture he'd gone through in the hospital." He looked out the window. "As for me, I could be charged with assault for what I did to that cop in the woods."

Kairi bit her lip. "I don't know what's going to happen," she spoke, saying her thoughts aloud.

 

Sora bit his lip, feeling extremely regretful. Roxas had hit that cop saving him. It was his fault that now he could be in serious trouble for that.

 

Roxas looked over at Sora. "If I didn't, though, you'd probably not be with us."

Kairi glanced over at Sora, but looked away. His death was the last thing she wanted to think about.

 

Sora turned his head and looked out the window. What Roxas said was true. Sora took it personally. If he had been able to defend himself and Kairi, then Roxas wouldn't be in this position.

 

Roxas looked at his hands. "Are there any other ideas for a course of action?"

Kairi bit her lip. She was no help in this. She shouldn't even be here discussing this. She had no idea what would be the best way to go with this.

 

Sora shook his head as he looked back to the floor, beginning to feel dizzy. He casually put a hand to his head.

 

Roxas looked out the window again, watching the people walk by the restaurant as if it wasn't even there. They were in trouble, and they all knew it. If it weren't for that gunman that put that gun to Kairi's head, none of this would've happened.

Kairi looked down and bit her lip. If she had just given the man the money...

 

Sora turned his head and looked out the window. He was going to run. He didn't know where to, but it was his only option.

 

Kairi could feel the tears coming and so she pushed her chair out and walked toward the bathroom silently.

Roxas ran a hand through his hair.

 

Sora quietly got up from his seat and walked towards the kitchen.

 

Kairi went into the bathroom, letting the door shut behind her. She leaned her hands against the sink and looked down, one tear falling from her cheek and into the white sink. Why did this have to happen to them? Was this some sort of test? Kairi didn't know, but she did know that it was too late to stop the tears from falling as they slid down her cheeks and she gasped for breath.

Roxas put his head in his hands. What were they to do now?

 

Sora walked through the kitchen to the office. He found a piece of paper and a pen in the drawer. He softly took them out and laid them on the desk top. He stared at the paper, thinking of what to write.

 

Kairi sobbed in the bathroom, trying to keep it quiet. Why did this have to happen to them? Why? She didn't deserve any of this. Roxas didn't deserve any of this. And most importantly, Sora didn't deserve any of this; none of it at all. He had it the worst of all three of them and yet she was crying? Kairi knew then that she was a baby, just from that thought. But she couldn't stop. The tears just kept coming.

 

Sora began to write his goodbye on the paper, listening in case somebody came back to the office.

 

Kairi sniffled and wiped her tears away. Her attempt was a waste, for they were replaced with more trails of her tears. She loved Sora to death, and wanted better for him. But what could she do to help him?

Roxas sighed as he held his head in his hands. Too much was going on. They needed to settle things before they got worse. Running was not an option any more. It'd only make things worse.

 

Sora shakilly dropped the pen. It bounced off the desk and landed on the floor. He couldn't do it. He couldn't leave Kairi again, even if he was protecting her. He crumpled up the note and threw it in the trash.
