KH- Fast Food Madness!

Sora watched Roxas take off. The voices were getting closer. Sora took off in a sprint to his right, running through the trees and avoiding anything that could cause him to fall.

 

Kairi made it to a clearing and escaped the darkness of the trees. She slowed her pace to a frustrated walk, her hands coming to her hair as she traveled in the grass. Tears were streaming down her face and she sniffed, only to sob a few times as she closed her eyes and stood in place, her hands on her head in frustration.

Roxas jumped over a fallen tree trunk and continued his pace through the trees. It was getting darker now, and it was hard to see.

 

Sora continued to run, not looking behind him. He could hear the voices coming in his direction. He was glad that they hadn't followed Roxas and Kairi. Now he just needed to get away. He stopped his run and looked around for an escape, since there was no way he could outrun the police. He saw a tall tree and began to climb, ignoring the nagging pain in his side.

 

Kairi sniffled. She couldn't believe she just left him back there. How could she do that to him?! The girl pushed her hair up as her fingers stayed on her head, and she closed her eyes as she tried to slow her breathing.

Roxas pushed a branch out of his way and saw lights on the other side of some trees. He pushed through them, seeing a familiar figure as soon as he made the clearing. "Kairi!"

The girl whirled, and her eyes widened greatly at the person before her. "Roxas?!"

 

Sora climbed higher into the tree, well hidden behind all the leaves. He watched as police walked by below him. They stopped near the tree. He held his breath.

 

"What are you doing here?! You're supposed to be helping Sora!" she hollered in bewilderment.

Roxas ran up to her, stopping in front of her. "You have to understand. I tried, but he didn't want you to be left alone."

"But you left him alone?! Are you nuts?! He's hurt, Roxas!"

Roxas grabbed hold of her arm and took a few steps forward. "Just come with me!"

Kairi yanked her arm away. "You're crazy. I can't believe you left him back there," she spat.

 

"I think we lost him." said a cop

"Then get the dogs." said another cop

 

Sora stayed as still as he could while listening to the police. The dogs didn't have his scent, so they would be useless in that situation. He stayed silent and watched the scene below him.

 

Roxas stared at her, his eyebrows furrowed.

Kairi's eyes narrowed. "You shouldn't have left him, Roxas."

"I didn't have any other choice," he said calmly.

"Choice? You want to talk about choice?" Kairi asked, her words like venom. "You had more than one choice and you know it. You could've helped him. You could've put your foot down and stayed with him."

Roxas shook his head slowly, his eyes locked on her. "What about you, Kairi?"

Kairi blinked.

"You had a choice too. But you decided to leave as well."

Kairi's eyes started glistening with wetness. "Don't you start..." she warned.

"Maybe you shouldn't have left either, but you did--"

"You didn't see the look in his eyes!" she cried loudly. A tear escaped her eye and she wiped it away. She turned away, staring at the green grass beneath her feet. "You didn't see it, Roxas..."

 

Sora heard a branch crack. He looked down and saw that the branch he was sitting on was breaking. He began to move to another when it suddenly collapsed. He screamed as he fell to the ground hard, right by the police.

 

Roxas sighed. "You're right, Kairi, I didn't. But he sent me because he wanted to be sure you were safe. Your safety matters most to him."

Kairi sniffled, wiping another tear from her eye. She shook her head.

"Look," he said breaking the silence, "we need to go."

"Where?" she said quietly.

"It doesn't matter." Roxas walked up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder. "He'll be fine." He watched her nod slightly and he put his arm around her shoulder, urging her to go. "Let's go."

Kairi glanced over her shoulder into the woods, hoping to see him run out. But he never came...and so she walked with Roxas onto the pavement a few feet away from the grass and they started walking into town.

 

Sora scrambled to his feet and began to run before the police had time to react. A few seconds later though, he heard their footsteps as they chased him. He ran faster. He only had a chance if he made it into town. Then maybe he could lose them in the crowd. He ran out of the woods and onto the street, scrambling to get away. He turned around and saw a lot of police chasing him, but their guns weren't drawn. Strange. He continued to run.

 

Kairi walked along the road with Roxas right beside her. She was regretting leaving Sora behind, but knew this was what he wanted.

Roxas walked silently next to her, looking around for any cops.

 

Sora ran on the sidewalk, running straight through all the people. He heard a lot of angry people yelling after him, but he didn't care. He needed to keep running and lose the police. He just hoped that they didn't have dogs or anything. Sora ran across the street, nearly getting hit by a car. He ignored the person's angry honking and kept running.

 

Roxas saw a cop car across the street. He ground his teeth together, and redirected Kairi into the alley. "Get moving," he whispered.

Kairi nodded and moved to a jog, Roxas right behind her.

 

Sora turned around and didn't see anymore cops. He stopped his run and leaned against a wall, grabbing his chest in pain. Tears filled his eyes as he looked around, making sure he had lost them.

 

"Where are we going?" she asked, panting as she turned a corner and following him.

"The restaurant," Roxas said. "Keep moving."

 

Sora looked up again. He didn't know how he had managed to lose the police, but they definitly were gone. He stood up on his own and rounded a corner. McDonalds was right there. He opened the door and walked inside. He shut the door behind him and sat at one of the tables. He put his elbows up on the table and rest his head in his hands, sweat pouring off of him.

 

Kairi followed behind Roxas, McDonalds coming to view. She trailed behind him as he approached the door. "Roxas, why are we even here?"

He walked inside and held the door for her. "Come on, Kairi."

 

Sora continued to pant even after he had stopped running. He lyed his head on the table and shut his eyes a little, exhausted from the night's action.
