Sora looked up at his other, doubtful. "The doctor said that I probably did permanent damage to my heart when I ran off. Things will never go back to the way they were."

 

Riku sat at a small desk in his apartment with a piece of paper in front of him and a pencil in his hand.
"Get...better...soon..." he said as he wrote the message on the paper. "From..."
Suddenly, he stopped and looked up.
Hey, he thought to himself. Wouldn't it be cool f I got a bunch of people to sign the letter? Yeah!
Riku jumped out of the chair and ran all the way to Burger King.
"Hey everyone." he said as he entered, waving the letter in the air. "Would you guys mind signing this?"

Xigbar peered through the drive through window and saw Riku running towards the building. He stood up and exited his station to hear Riku telling everyone to sign a letter.
"What for?" he said, leaning against a wall with a tired look on his face.

"It's for Sora." Riku said to Xigbar. "I'm gonna be going back to McDonalds, and then Wendy's later. Trying to get everyone to sign the letter. Here's a pen."
He pulled a pen out of his pocket and tossed it to Xigbar.

Xigbar nodded and caught the pen, then signed the letter.
Hope this doesn't mean you're now afraid of people with guns.

"Anyone else gonna sign it?" he asked, offering the pen to anyone who would take it.

 

"I wouldn't say that." Roxas stared at Sora. "Your heart's stronger than you think. Do you think that if it wasn't you would have survived any of that yesterday?"

 

"I only survived because of Kairi. If she hadn't encouraged me, I would be dead right now." Sora realized.

Axel took the pen from Xigbar and signed the card. 'Don't let it happen again or I'll kill you myself. Got it memorized?' Axel wrote onto the card.

 

"Is that why it's awkward between you two right now?" Roxas asked. "The girl was practically numb when she came and got me. She hasn't expressed any emotion since I've been with her."

 

Sora shrugged a little. "I don't know why things are so awkward. Maybe it's because I'm not quite myself anymore."

 

"That's probably one reason. You're definitely not the optimistic Sora anymore," Roxas said. "Was she in here when you got the news?"

 

"You mean about my heart attacks? Yeah, she was in here." Sora thought with regret. Why did she need to hear that?

 

"She's probably just as terrified as you are then," Roxas said.

 

Sora hard to believe that anybody could feel as frightened as he did, but he didn't argue. "It was my fault though. I was an idiot and ran out after Riku." He prepared for Roxas' scolding.

 

"You're right. That was an idiotic thing to do." Roxas said, looking at his feet. "He's your best friend, and we all understand that. You'd do the exact same thing for Kairi if she was in that situation." Roxas sat down next to Sora. "We just don't understand how you got away with it. That was only a few hours after your surgery. What exactly were you thinking?"

 

"I don't think I was thinking." Sora said, not looking at Roxas. "I just knew that Riku needed me and nothing else mattered. Leon tried to stop me by pushing me down onto the bed, but I slipped away and somehow made it to the jail."

 

Roxas smirked. "So are you in love with Riku, or Kairi here, Sora?"

 

Sora gave him a fake smile. That wasn't funny, but he didn't feel like fighting about it either. He had done enough fighting lately.

 

Roxas looked away. "Wow. You're a really hard one to cheer up today." He shook his head.

 

"Sorry. I haven't been in such a great mood since this whole thing began." Sora felt guilty. Why couldn't he be happy?

 

"Well, can't help you there," he said shaking his head slowly. "But it's understandable."

 

"I wish that I could just go back in time and make it so that this never happened." Sora complained. "It would make my life so much easier."

 

"I think we all wish for that," Roxas said quietly. "I don't know what you want me to say, man. There's nothing we can really do but sit and wait it out."

 

"Yeah." Sora slammed a fist into the bed. "I hate this!" He said angrilly, hitting the bed again.
